In the spirit of positivity and good news, we should always be positive
about the information that TEPCO is willing to tell us when it's in our own best Interest

The second group of workers to enter the reactor building of unit 1 since successive hydrogen explosions rocked the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant in March calibrated a crucial water-level gauge, Japanese regulators reported Tuesday.
Fixing gauges measuring pressure and water levels in the unit is a critical step in Tokyo Electric Power Co.’s plan to flood the reactor’s containment and bring the enclosed pressure vessel to cold shutdown status. The Asahi Shimbun newspaper also reported the workers discovered rubble inside the unit, but that water leaks or significant damage to primary equipment was not evident.
This is absolutely Great News. They found no evidence of water leaks and
they were adjusting the gauges to get current data.
Okay, So Everyone who wants Good News should just stop reading here and
go follow this link.
Only those interested in the analysis should go any further...
Seriously,
Don't read this if you can't stomach disturbing news.
It appears Unit 1 is in complete Meltdown.
Well what happened is they calibrated the gauges and they can't find any water in
the reactor at Unit 1.
Now simple physics tells us that if the reactor has no water in it, and the reactor
has X amount of decay heat the rods will all melt down.
The positive thing is because the unit has run dry, there have been no leaks.

NN’s investigation has revealed that there is hardly any water inside the Reactor Pressure Vessel (RPV) and the Containment Vessel of the Reactor 1 [...]
The water level inside the RPV had shown that more than half the height of the fuel rods (4 meters) was under water. However, when the water gauge was repaired, the actual water level turned out to be so much lower that there was hardly any water in the RPV, according to the JNN’s interview with a government source. [...]
There was hardly any water in the Containment Vessel, the source also revealed. [...]
[T]he Containment Vessel is likely to be broken and leaking water.
There goes the "water entombment" scheme. All the water that has been poured into the reactor has gone somewhere. Both the RPV and the Containment Vessel of the Reactor 1 have been breached.
Somewhere???
Where has all that radioactive water gone to? They've been pumping in 75 tons a day
and it's gone..... It isn't in the Reactor and it's not in the basement. It's not in the torus. And when he means that ridiculous water entombment sceme is gone, what
he means is that you can't pump against that leak. Now maybe they can get workers
in there and plug that leak, but, it should also raise the question.
Why didn't the radiation monitors notice leaks of radioactive water?
If the fuel rods are exposed, there is an increased danger of hydrogen explosion. However, the condition of the reactor seems stable, so it is possible that the fuel rods have melted to the bottom of the RPV, and the molten mass is being cooled by the water at the bottom, according to the source. There was hardly any water in the Containment Vessel, the source also revealed.
now in Priordiaries,
I had cited reports from Ishikawa that the reactors were all in meltdown.
I would suggest reading the diary commentary to see the reception.
But the NukeHeads were definitely unhappy.
TEPCO is apparently trying to walk back the statements saying "They can not confirm
the presence of water at the 5 Meter point in the reactor"..
http://enenews.com/...
The Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency said that if the latest data is accurate, it seems parts of the fuel rods have melted and accumulated at the bottom of the reactor. But it added that it believes the fuel rods are being cooled.
but we do have return of the Mummy
こうした中、放射性物質がこれ以上大気中に飛散するのを防ぐため、13日から1号機の原子炉建屋に化学繊維でできたカバーを掛ける作業が始まることが明らかになりました。
To prevent radioactive materials from further escaping into the atmosphere, TEPCO will start work on May 13 to cover up the Reactor 1 reactor building with cloth made of synthetic cloth.
now this should be viewed as really good news all in all, because according
to various nukeheads, the radiation levels at the gate are quite low and
consequently we must view this as a positive developement.
http://www.jaif.or.jp/...
we should also view this as very positive because UCS and SANE haven't
reported this, so we should take all TEPCO statements with the least possible
weight.
So in Summary.
Unit 1 Dry, Breached, Primary containment breached, and, contents escaping.

I want to dive into
a nuclear reactor
Surrounded by beautiful blue light
If I dive into
the nuclear reactor
then I can let it all go
By the way, For publishing in that original diary that Core 1 was in Meltdown
I was banned from the Fukushima group live blog. I've never gotten an answer
for that. Merely deafening silence.
Feel free to comment on that too in the comments.
