The special election in NY-26, to replace resigned-in-disgrace Republican Chris Lee, is a toss-up according to every poll.
Democrat Kathy Hochul and Republican Jane Corwin are essentially tied on the low-30s, with tea party candidate Jack Davis in the mid-20s.
The big news lately is that Davis and one of his campaign staffers "assaulted" a GOP tracker, whose 14-second video of the "attack" was pretty immediately posted on YouTube:
By the Republicans, who called the tracker a volunteer.
The Jane Corwin lie explained, below.
The alleged "assault" happened yesterday in Greece, after a Davis event.
Today, a TV reporter caught up with Corwin and asked her about the confrontation.
She lied, saying, "I haven't seen any video."
Yeah, right, she has not seen a viral video that helps her candidacy.
That was done by her Assembly chief of staff, Michael Mallia (discovered by Alan Bedenko at WNYMedia.net).
No one outside the Republican hive believes that whopper.
That's right, Corwin's Assembly staff, paid by NY taxpayers to do Assembly work, are working on her Congressional campaign, allegedly volunteering "on their own time."
Of course, she lied again about that, too:
This was not on Assembly hours. He was acting on his own, it was in the evening, and I'm not responsible for what he's doing after hours.
Corwin's pantsuit should be pretty hot after that obvious lie.
Her Assembly chief of staff is working for her Congressional campaign as a tracker, and Corwin preposterously claims he was "acting on his own."
And she knew nothing about it.
Yeah, right, again, also, too.
Corwin is a lackluster, silver-spoon, serial-liar candidate who supports eliminating Medicare.
Kathy Hochul is a moderate Democrat (the only kind that could win in a forever-Republican district) who opposes eliminating Medicare, and is not a serial liar.
And this has become a national race -- a referendum on the radical Republicans' plans to repeal the New Deal and the Great Society.
Special election day is a week from Tuesday -- please help Hochul with credit-card love here.
