Lanny Davis' stupidity knows no bounds. After being skewered
in this strip, Davis is outraged that people would continue to highlight how morally bankrupt he is.
The tussle began last Friday when Trudeau skewered Davis in the comic strip for representing Ivory Coast strongman Laurent Gbagbo. Davis emailed the cartoonist asking for a correction, arguing that he was working to ease Gbagbo out of power — not defending a dictator.
A correction? He expected Trudeau to draw a new strip showing Davis pushing Gbagbo out of office? But that's not the dumbest part of all of this. Trudeau himself pointed out the dumbest part:
On Thursday, in an email he shared with POLITICO, Trudeau responded to Davis:
"It doesn’t much concern me why or how you withdrew from your contract with the loathsome Laurent Gbagbo. Your view of yourself as peacemaker notwithstanding, I think it’s fair to say that Gbagbo didn’t send you $300,000 to arrange his own exit. Indeed, he murdered countless countrymen trying to avoid exactly that outcome," Trudeau wrote.
"You may frame your resignation as a gesture of principle if you’d like, but most people know a face-saving exit strategy when they see one," he added. "And retaining $150,000 in 'expenses' from a man accused of crimes against humanity certainly suggests your sense of honor had its limits."
That $150,000 in expenses that Lanny Davis kept are for just 10 days of "work", before he dropped the brutal dictator amid a public backlash. The concept of "honor" is completely alien to Davis.
