Paul Ryan: Obama engaged in "class warfare"
by Brian Montopoli -- cbsnews.com -- May 16, 2011
In a speech to the Economic Club of Chicago Monday, House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-WI) suggested President Obama and Ryan's Democratic critics are "sowing social unrest and class envy" by pushing a tax increase on the wealthiest individuals in order to help address the deficit and debt.
"The president says that only the richest people in America would be affected by his plan," Ryan said, arguing that "class warfare may be clever politics, but it is terrible economics."
Ryan complained that Mr. Obama wants to increase the top tax rate to 44.8 percent. The president has pushed for an increase in the top marginal tax rate for families making over $250,000 per year from 35 percent to 39.6 percent.
Ryan, ignores the Fact, that "pushing a tax increase on the wealthiest individuals" is what the GOP promised, to get those Tax Cuts in the first place
-- they were only supposed to be "Temporary" -- they agreed the Bush Tax Cuts would Sunset after 10 years.
Ryan in his "were all wealthy now" speech today -- couldn't even get his facts right -- about what the Top Tax Rate would revert to (39.6%), if by some miracle,
-- the Republicans actually kept their word -- and let them sunset.
Of course, Paul Ryan is not exactly clear on what his Medicare Voucher Program will end up doing for those "sick and poor" either,
-- It seems he's never been either, and golden-boy Paul has his facts "upside down" again ...
[... continuing with today's Ryan re-write]
He said the "real class warfare" that threatens Americans is "a class of governing elites picking winners and losers, and determining our destinies for us."
[...]
Ryan said his plan "offers future generations a strengthened Medicare program they can count on, with guaranteed coverage options, less help for the wealthy, and more help for the poor and the sick."
"Our plan is to give seniors the power to deny business to inefficient providers," he said. "Their plan is to give government the power to deny care to seniors."
If Ryan really wants to help "cash-strapped" seniors, he should leave that no-nonsense guaranteed Health Care system alone. Medicare works. Seniors like it.
Ryan should let the Bush Tax cut expire. Raising Revenues again, can cure a world of ills.
Ryan should "quit picking" the Wealthy Elites in America, to be the only ones to get Tax Favoritism from the Republican "Guardians of Greed."
We ALL deserve a fair break in today's world -- NOT only the "fictional" Job Creators -- that the GOP designates the instant winners, each time they get that Gavel.
"More Tax Breaks for the Wealthy" anyone?
-- that is the "determinism" that Paul Ryan is still trying to sell us, on the sly. Let the Wealthy determine your fate, eh People? -- yeah that's worked out "really swell" so far, hasn't it, Paul? America is booming, from all those Outsourced Jobs -- the Jobs Creators left us.
Apparently in Paul Ryan's fictional Ayn Rand "Bizarro World", it has. ... Where only the well-connected are chosen to do well. It's only fair, right Paul? You got to have Money, to Make Money, right?
In that fabled GOP World -- where only the Strong survive, right Ms. Rand?
