The rights of people are daily falling victim to the corporations and the corrupt politicians and judges they purchase.
A perfect wedge issue that the Democrats could unleash is a constitutional amendment that would clarify the relationship of business to the people of America. Such a constitutional amendment would give people primacy in the application of rights and would subordinate legal constructs. And an added kicker, acknowledge the prospect of artificial intelligence.
Constitutional Rights reserved for People
- The rights, privileges, responsibilities and immunities enumerated by or derived from the U.S. Constitution are reserved for living biological people of the species Homo sapiens or sentient creatures that may evolve from said species.
- Artificial legal constructs such as Corporations do not and are not intended to possess inherent rights reserved for the people. The rights accorded to such entities are for limited purposes as Congress and the States may from time to time delineate but must never infringe on the inherent rights of people.
- It is acknowledged that sentient artificially created lifeforms either biological or mechanical may come into existence. The prospect of rights and the application of this Constitution to such creatures is left for a future Congress and the courts to apply.
I invite you to weigh in on if this is a good idea, or crazy or something in between.
