Add one more to the growing field of bad asses.
You may have heard that the bill to repeal tax breaks for oil companies failed.
Our treasury can’t use $21 Billion? It has become a no-brainer that the republicans and filthy rich/corporations would prefer dying Americans to forestalling a vacation in space. Hey, what would you do with a billion dollars? They prefer to end Medicare and Medicaid to having the most profititable business the world has ever known, pay taxes. The hypocrisy is breathtaking. I just can’t wrap my head around having $35 Billion in profits in one quarter for the five biggest oil companies while getting federal subsidies. Maybe it is the division among the five that makes it not so much profit? One exec stated at the congressional hearing “Americans do not want shared sacrifice, they want shared prosperity.” You are hereby invited to dinner at my house. And please bring some of that ‘prosperity’ because we have been out for a long time and are about to apply for food stamps. Oh, better hurry, we are also in foreclosure and may not be in 'our' house much longer.
Never mind that Congress, the local school boards, etc. etc. are crying in anguish over deficits and budget cuts from one corner of the country to the next. Can’t say “middle class” anymore. What middle class? The bottom remains where it always has been. Languishing under the minimum wage or food-insecure-soon-to-be-homeless-uncovered-unemployed, of which I am one. But what happened to the top? The profit/bonus ceiling. That is in the stratosphere, where you may find some of the richest.
While some may think I am exaggerating the space vacation, I am not. The Super rich can plan space travel at virgin galactic.com. Not the only travel agent for space, by the way. NASA is basically going private. Perhaps not a bad thing that the rich will pay for exploration of space? But doesn’t anyone see the stark irony that some private citizens can fly into space and others can’t afford to fill their gas tank to go to work, if they have work?
What is the cost of a Congressman/woman these days?
