Nurse Kelley asked me to repost her diary from last night and of course, I do what Nurse Kelley sez.
We collected $620 yesterday for a sea of orange flowers for exmearden's celebration of her life. What a wonderful community we have! I'll be sure to photograph all the arrangements and report back to you all sometime next week about the whole celebration.
In the comments yesterday people suggested donating to a Seattle food bank and other charities in her name, Kris Froland, these are excellent ideas that I'm sure exmearden would appreciate
When exmearden died in late November, she told her family not to have a funeral. "Too sad," she said. Instead, she asked them to wait until spring and have a celebration. As described in navajo's diary, that celebration will take place on Saturday in Seattle, and all Kossacks are invited to attend.
I suggested that those of us who can't attend send orange flowers, like these:

orange flowers
UPDATE: I asked Kris' daughter Kylie about deliveries, i.e., where and when, since the church may not be equipped for a flood of orange. She'd prefer they be sent to her home early Friday afternoon, so if anyone is sending flowers on their own, email me and I'll provide the address.
But what about Kossacks who can't afford the price of an arrangement? I haz a plan!
If you can't afford an entire arrangement but want to chip in - and you have a PayPal account - make a donation via my gmail addy. I'll combine all contributions with my own and place the order Thursday. The addy is KelleyRN2[at]gmail.com.
Meteor Blades will be there representing the Daily Kos Front Pagers. He and I will recite occams hatchet's wonderful diary, The starlight formerly known as exmearden. I'll be reading exme's voice and MB will be reading occams's. It's a lovely tribute to her.
I will also be reading tributes from Land of Enchantment, Dem in the Heart of Texas and Nurse Kelley.
It should be a great memorial for exmearden.
