Except for Republicans, the group who has the most trouble with reality, America has a new attitude about gay marriage.
Gallup:
For the first time in Gallup's tracking of the issue, a majority of Americans (53%) believe same-sex marriage should be recognized by the law as valid, with the same rights as traditional marriages. The increase since last year came exclusively among political independents and Democrats. Republicans' views did not change.
Even conservatives (+3) and the 55
+ crowd (+6) ticked up a bit, though the big change was in Democrats (+13) and indies (+10).
But Republicans? Zero. Zilch. Nada.
You know, someone should tell Newt it's not 1994. And as for Michele Bachmann and new GOP darling Herman Cain, tell them it's not the 19th century.
Oh, never mind. Let them find out themselves.
