I am going to start by making an assumption sir. My assumption being that although I am well aware of the possible level of frustration and I'moveritness you are, have, and will go through, I do not believe this is one battle you are keen to give up on.
Pardon my ignorance if I am way off base but I half (really? "half"? I'm leaving it cause I spotted it myself) to continue.
To quote a legend in this here game...
"Nay, rage."
Another gem I felt fitting to the moment...
"We don't die, we multiply...."
I have been fumbling around this site for a few years by now writing shitty diaries for the most part until I fumbled my way to a diary about President Barack Obama announcing his campaign for re-election. Oh what a glorious and triumphant feeling it was and yet I had to express my disappointment with the fact that a lazy sumbitch like myself did it first.
Are there there people on this site that know little more about blacks other than second hand conversations with their black friends? Or books? Or proximity? Of course there are.
Are there racist people? Overt and covert racism? Bigotry? Prejudice? Any ism you can think of? Of course there is.
Are there people that post here that will protect and preserve these attitudes so long as the internet provides the bandwidth to do so? This is getting a little redundant.
This is where the battle is fought and we need as many "soldiers" as we can possibly have to combat what we view as lies, distortions, hypocrisies, and flat out disrespect not only for the black experience but the varieties of black experiences that have been brought to the light since the election of the first non-white middle age male in this countries 200 plus years of existence.
When the media said this is going to make race relations better in the U.S. I said "Dafukitiz!!!"
Do we see a double standard? There goes one now...
To me that is all that matters.
We have dug in our heels for this party for decades with a support level deserving of a seat at the table not just a caucus of house members.
Now with a seat at the head of the table and the type of support we offer coming under the spotlight, they are growing uncomfortable with the realities of the members of the Democratic Party.
Some want Suge Knight, FDR, Hillary, Nader, anyone more progressive than who we have at the moment. This is not and never will be our country, this country belongs to the people that believe it is their right and responsibility to tell others the best way to live their lives and to indeed limit the rights of those who disagree, and that sir is what I believe happens here as it does all across this country and more important, it's the reason why I am asking you to re-consider your decision even if the frequency is far less than what it used to be.
We are all important here to varying degrees but there will be a void. I can't fill it, I could try but I know my limitations. Dare I say that a strong if not willingly combative voice from a black male is needed if not required. We view our community structure as such that the importance of that type of voice is encouraged and appreciated because they have been trying to silence it since the 1500's.
I am going to speak of the uniqueness of your words without comparison to the other members of our smallish group.
We are where the battle is being fought for the most part. Do you think some intern at the White House isn't scanning this site to check the temperature of the public. What about a young black man or woman just getting into politics and landing here as I did myself a few years ago. What about those even younger than myself? Imagine the fear they have of speaking their minds on what can be a grand stage at times. Imagine the pride they feel when rec'ing one of your comments or receiving a reply of thanks from a person who regularly graces the rec list.
Us noobs study the more popular writers like yourself, it gives us strength to co-sign, to formulate our own diaries, and to indeed push the message beyond our monitors.
Let me also say that fighting the battle in the manner that we do...online from behind our monitors without the ability to nurture the type of understanding that only comes from face to face contact is a trying task. I often find myself having my patience pushed to the brink of "fukallyall" and have to let it go, take the HR's and move on, so I understand if that's where you are at and wouldn't stand in the way of a decision like that in any way shape or form....
...but if you aren't quite there, I'd say let'em kick you out first. You see my sig, you know I don't give a fuck, if they don't like it tough shit. Aside from talking shit, or clicking an icon what else can they do.
The roof is on fire? No shit, where do you think the matches came from? (MB, I'm not mocking you, just a little fun, and seriously man it feels like we are under siege some times)
