Welcome to the 1st Sunday afternoon open thread, brought to you this week by cooper888.
Please note: This is supposed to be a safe space to discuss our issues, so please, keep your piefights where they belong, which is not here. That applies to the meta food fight of the day, the Obama Wars, what have you. It's not that we don't like debate or that we don't have opinions on those issues. There are places for these debates and they are not here at LGBT Kos. We are more interested in the diversity of our life experiences, our cultures, and our dreams of a better tomorrow. We believe that we can create a space to discuss these differences without engaging in the political debates that have often divided our community. If you can't abide by this rule, you'll be asked to leave.
LGBT Kos News
We're very excited about the response to our group so far. If you are interested in helping out with one or more of the weekly diaries, please send a Kosmail to the group or one of the administrators. Please note that next week's Fabulous Friday is being moved to 5:30 pm (ET) to avoid a conflict with Black Kos (4pm) and rserven's regular Friday night diary at TransAction (7pm). The first Wednesday night special will be written by MBNYC and will be posted at 6pm (ET).
LGBT Kos and Friends - Open Thread
Welcome to the LGBT Kos open thread... a place to let our hair down and talk about whatever is on our minds, gossip, music, books, movies, you name it! Everyone is welcome from top to bottom (grin).
I was reading a story that 'Resorts Casino Hotel' opened the first gay casino night club in Atlantic City called 'Prohibition'. I realized that we (hubby and I) haven't been to a club in years and started wondering how often, if at all, our LGBT Kos community goes clubbing?
Growing up in Iowa I knew of a gay bar in my hometown but it really wasn't safe to go there. So when I turned 18 in 1975 I stuck to the local straight (uh huh) disco. The first gay bar I would go to would be in 1983 while living in Colorado. The bar was called Tracks which I believe is now closed.
Fast forward to 1998 and while living in San Francisco met my husband at N'Touch night club. We continued to go out occasionally but soon settled into our routine of being homebodies. No more late nights of dancing for us... although we do dance at home occasionally which really confuses our dogs and drives them crazy!
So... lets get this party started with Elaine!
