awesome rad maps of japan and status graphs.
There is something very odd, look at the rad map for 5/11 to 5/13, and then look at Takamatsu harbor, the radiation meters there spiked. Think it was some sort of
radioactive cargo coming from the Northeast, or some odd rain cloud? I'd prefer it
to be cargo...
These are the WSPEEDI graphs that Kosako wanted released.
http://www.dailykos.com/...
I had suggested this was a really big deal, and the Shills came out of the woodwork and suggested Kosako and I were BSing. Read the commentary for that.
If you think those maps are a big deal, well, then you know where to go for
information. If you don't, well keep on listening to the JNI, it's not like they
are going to cover this.
OldHippie comments that these maps probably track Cesium well, so we should
expect major cesium doses there.
But hey you don't need to live in these areas to get Cesium and Iodine Exposures.
The schools will make sure you get lots of radiation in your diet.

Wednesday May 11, 2011: "Sashima Tea Field Study" - 3rd-grade pupils of elementary schools in Bando City picked tea leaves in the rain, enjoyed tempura made of raw leaves
Sponsor: The Board of Education of Bando City, Ibaraki Prefecture,
tel: 0297-35-2121
On Wednesday May 11, the annual "Sashima Tea Field Study" was held in Ibaraki Prefectural University of Agriculture in Bando City. It was raining, but 3rd-graders from 13 schools in Bando participated in the study
So, rain increases fallout and the kids eat fresh tempura with lots of cesium in them.... Goddamned Criminal. Can we invoke a nuremberg court now? or do
we have to wait till the kids grow horns.

TEPCO reported on May 23 that the Reactors 2 and 3 at Fukushima I Nuclear Power Plant had a core meltdown just like the Reactor 1, based on their analysis on the reactor parameters right after the earthquake on March 11.
経済産業省原子力安全・保安院に提出する。
The company will submit the report to METI's Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency. In the report, TEPCO did two simulations regarding the Reactors 2 and 3: 1st, based on the assumption that the water level was what the water gauge had been showing all along; 2nd, based on the assumption that the data from the water gauge were not to be trusted, and the fuel rods were completely exposed, as in the Reactor 1. In both cases, the result showed that the nuclear fuel had melted and dropped to the bottom of the Reactor Pressure Vessel. In the 2nd case where they assumed the faulty water gauge, the result showed the entire fuel rods had melted, according to the report.
TEPCO will officially report Units 2 or 3 Might have melted down? JFC!!!!
If TEPCO can't deal with reality, why are they in charge.
http://www.yomiuri.co.jp/...
TEPCO meltdown Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant (melt) was performed for further data analysis, between 1 and Unit 3 is not only a pressure vessel, also covering the outer steel containment vessel, the 24 post-earthquake found that there is a possibility that damage to the hours.
According to the report, which were calculated in detail the situation and pressure after the earthquake based on the data operation of the reactor, Tokyo Electric Power, the Unit 1 cooling "urgent emergency condenser" without working well, the core The progress of the melt, the bottom of the pressure vessel is damaged after the earthquake in 15 hours. Rise with the temperature of the core melt containment vessel reached about 300 degrees in temperature significantly above 138 degrees for 18 hours in the design. The temperature is estimated to be continued to rise thereafter.
Containment is different from the pressure vessel can be exposed to high pressure and high temperature near 70 degrees during the operation 300, which is lower temperature and pressure conditions on the design. At high temperatures over 300 degrees, become degraded rubber and metal that could not withstand the sealed pipe penetrations in the containment and equipment believed to contain the steam leaked radioactive material.
The Yomuri Shimbun uses the phrase Meltdown. but the real value here is they
mention that if the CV is exposed to temperature above 300 it will melt the CV seals.

Monju is a fast breeder reactor that uses sodium as coolant, which catches on fire on contact with air. It uses MOX-fuel.
3.3-tonne, 12-meter "In‐Vessel Transfer Machine" fell into the reactor vessel on August 26, 2010. The manager at the plant in charge of fuel exchange committed suicide in February this year.

The world's first commercial LMFBR, and the only one yet built in the USA, was the 94 MWe Unit 1 at Enrico Fermi Nuclear Generating Station. Designed in a joint effort between Dow Chemical and Detroit Edison as part of the Atomic Power Development Associates consortium, groundbreaking in Lagoona Beach, Michigan (near Monroe, Michigan) took place in 1956. The plant went into operation in 1963. It shut down on October 5, 1966 due to high temperatures caused by a loose piece of zirconium which was blocking the molten sodium coolant nozzles. Partial melting damage to six subassemblies within the core was eventually found. (This incident was the basis for a controversial book by investigative reporter John G. Fuller titled We Almost Lost Detroit.) The zirconium blockage was removed in April 1968, and the plant was ready to resume operation by May 1970, but a sodium coolant fire delayed its restart until July. It subsequently ran until August 1972 when its operating license renewal was denied.
So lets see, Blocked up reactor, Plant manager kills self,
http://en.wikipedia.org/...
Monju is a sodium-cooled, MOX-fueled loop type reactor with 3 primary coolant loops, producing 714 MWt / 280 MWe.
Monju began construction in 1985 and was completed in 1991. It first achieved criticality on 5 April 1994. It was closed in December 1995 following a sodium leak and fire in a secondary cooling circuit, and was expected to restart in 2008. The reactor was restarted at 10:10am on the 1st of June 2010.[26]
Flammable explosive metal coolant, 10X bigger then the disastrous american
reactor, lots of coverups, troubles. And they have a 12 Meter rig stuck in the
reactor vessel. So if it melts down, how do you cool it?
Will Godzilla please kill these people?

On Wednesday May 25, we will hold "'Ganbare' Fukushima! Produce Market" on the ground floor of the METI building, where the vegetables grown in Fukushima will be sold. The market is open to the general public, so please stop by.
Date and time: Wednesday May 25, 11:30AM to 1:30PM
Place: at the main entrance of the METI main building
What is sold: vegetables and other food items made in Fukushima
Open to public
Details (vegetables subject to change, depending on the availability): asparagus, tomato, cucumber, blueberry jam, curry sauce with chickens grown in Aizu [western 1/3 of Fukushima Prefecture], ramen noodles, seasoned soy sauce.
I think the staff should force feed the Asparagus to the minister.

Soil contamination from Fukushima crisis comparable to Chernobyl: study http://bit.ly/...
According to Kawata, soil in a 600 square kilometer area mostly to the northwest of the Fukushima plant is likely to have absorbed radioactive cesium of over 1.48 million becquerels per square meter, the yardstick for compulsory migration orders in the 1986 Chernobyl catastrophe.
So check out the maps of Japan i did up diary.... Seems worse in Japan.

Iodine-131 @ 4.14 pCi/liter
Cesium-134 @ 4.55 pCi/liter
Cesium-137 @ 5.11 pCi/liter
If this was Radon, you would have to mitigate it. 5500 Miles and
it's still a crisis. I really hate to see the milk numbers in Japan.
BTW, I have a tanker of Radioactive milk for the shills.

the numbers on the chart above are staggering....
Really read that.

interesting analysis.

Fortunately, it appears for now we have dodged that bullet, and the not-great-but-not-apocalyptic news du jour is that the meltdowns at Nos. 2 and 3 are not as bad as what occurred at No. 1. [...]
KBMAN? SullivanST? Frankenstein? Is that you?

In Unit 2 from the measured pressure data, equivalent to more than one hole in the containment of 10 cm,
So we can certainly put the heads of various pedantic shills through these gaps.

The threat of a catastrophic release of radioactive materials from a spent fuel pool at Japan’s Fukushima Daiichi plant is dwarfed by the risk posed by such pools in the United States, which are typically filled with far more radioactive material, according to a study released on Tuesday by a nonprofit institute [the Institute for Policy Studies]. [...]
At one plant that is a near twin of the Fukushima units, Vermont Yankee on the border of Massachusetts and Vermont, the spent fuel in a pool at the solitary reactor there exceeds the inventory in all four of the damaged Fukushima reactors combined, the report notes. [...]
We should do a crash program to get fuel pulled from these pools and into
Dry Casks. Of course more importantly we should get a crash program
of wind power up.
and so remember mutant bunny from yesterday?
Note how small he looks and relatively weak?
[EDIT Oh hey there was a rocking diary by Harveywasserman
he diaried on ocean contamination, I can't find it now
but feel free to add it in the comments.

Hold tight wait till the party's over
Hold tight We're in for nasty weather
There has got to be a way
Burning down the house
Here's your ticket pack your bag: time for jumpin' overboard
The transportation is here
Close enough but not too far, Maybe you know where you are
Fightin' fire with fire
All wet hey you might need a raincoat
Shakedown dreams walking in broad daylight
Three hun-dred six-ty five de-grees
Burning down the house

Gonna come in first place
People on their way to work baby what did you except
Gonna burst into flame
My house S'out of the ordinary

Some things sure can sweep me off my feet
