It is no secret that Republicans hate the American worker. It is no secret that they will do anything in their power to keep them from achieving and maintaining a middle-class. Their constant whoring for Corporate America while giving tax breaks to the very rich and attempting to steal away the social safety net American workers paid for is a matter of public record. However, even for these folks who hate their country and the average American within so much that they will not sacrifice, or ask their cronies to sacrifice for the betterment of America their latest move reaches a new level of disgrace.
Yes, we know that Republicans hate American workers and anyone but themselves. We know that Democrats are either complicit or cowardly in the way they "fight" these unpatriotic idiots. However, sometimes even this sickening band of losers, perverts, hypocrites and liars can reach a new low. Unfortunately for 5000 skilled workers in Louisiana they have done just that.
Working Americans take note. After running in 2010 on creating "jobs" Republicans are showing their true colors. After hording most of our nation's wealth to themselves and their Corporate cronies while trying to pay off the debt they ran up on the backs of working Americans what do they do?? They vote to pay a bunch of corporate assholes to do what they do best. Lay off American workers and destroy the American middle-class:
House Republicans once again thumbed their noses at American workers last week by voting to give $310 million of taxpayer dollars to reward the owners of the Avondale (La.) shipyard for shutting down and putting nearly 5,000 people out of work. The House rejected by a margin of 246-177 an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act offered by Rep. Cedric Richmond (D-La.) that would have prevented the government from refunding $310 million to Huntington Ingalls for closure costs at Avondale. Nineteen Republicans voted to support the measure.
Last year, Northrop Grumman announced it was closing the shipyard and began laying off its 5,000 member skilled workforce. In March, it spun off the shipyard to its newly created company, Huntington Ingalls, and now the workforce is down to 3,000 who are building the final ship on the yard’s order book.

These are the same Republicans who railed about jobs in 2010 and the same Republicans who whine incessantly because they may have to sacrifice to the enormous national debt they ran up robbing working America blind. Now they want to pay $310 million to a corporation to cover the costs of them putting 5000 skilled American workers on the unemployment line?? And you just know their next move will be to whine about the unemployment benefits these hard-working honest Americans will need to survive.
Rep. Cedric Richmond, while not able to save these jobs at least stood up and pointed out the obvious. Our government should not reward treasonous profitable corporations who cost Americans jobs with anything. One thing that is certain, quitting is not the American way:
That is $310 million going to a company for quitting. That’s not the American way. I ask my colleagues to support the amendment and not give $310 million to a company who just made $45 million in three months and is quitting on the America people.
Fortunately, I don’t have to go back to my district— whether it’s Virginia or Missouri— and explain to my constituents why I’m fighting to give a company in Louisiana $310 million while cutting Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security.
See Rep. Richmonds full statement here:
It is disgusting to see the levels that Republicans, Corporate Democrats and the greediest and least patriotic among us will sink to in order to destroy our country. These folks care nothing for anything but themselves and their own greed and callous selfishness. They will even go to the point of rewarding their cronies in Corporate America for destroying the livelihoods of 5000 American workers whose only crime was to work hard to make the world a better place for their families.
It is a sad day in America indeed when greed is constantly rewarded and hard work is looked upon with scorn. Unfortunately it is a sign of the times and if Americans do not wake up and fight back next time we may be paying some greedy asshole to take away our job.
