After listening to Sarah Palin’s latest gaffe re: Paul Revere’s famous midnight ride, it seems inconceivable to me that any reasoning organism on this planet would believe she is qualified to become the 2012 Republican presidential candidate, but Andrew Malcolm’s article in today’s Los Angeles Times, makes me believe anything is possible.
Now, that so many Americans have wallowed in their smug confirmation that Palin is an idiot unqualified for sixth-grade history, how far, wide and fast do you think the contradictory news will spread that the former governor of Alaska was indeed correct?
That the Republican non-candidate, in fact, knew more about the actual facts of Revere's midnight ride than all those idiots unknowingly revealing their own ignorance by laughing at her faux faux pas? How secretly embarrassing this must be, to be forced to face that you're dumber than the reputed dummy.
I read the article twice to make certain it wasn’t a joke, but I can only conclude it was for real, and if it is, then it's frightening to think anything so mind boggling stupid made it into the L.A. Times. (If it's snark, then I'm not getting it.)
Maybe Bill Maher was correct when he said, "Anybody could become President in this dumb f*cking country."
Rozilee, a member of Democratic Underground, made an interesting observation today about the angst Sarah Palin is causing among our allies overseas:
Brits are making fun of Sarah Palin. But, my German ex-hubby's family isn't laughing.
"…we all thought the same about Bush over here. Americans value stupidity as a virtue!"
But this is what really scares me:
From The Hill:
Howard Dean, the former Democratic National Committee chairman who helped Democrats capture the White House in 2008, warns that Sarah Palin could defeat President Obama in 2012.
Dean says his fellow Democrats should beware of inside-the-Beltway conventional wisdom that Obama would crush Palin in a general-election contest next year.
Sorry for ranting, but I can't handle the thought of having to endure another Hillbilly presidency. A final quote from Rozilee:
Sarah with her manicured two-and-a-half-inch nails on the nuclear button. "What's this little pokey thingy do?"
Excuse me while I go make a tin-foil hat.
NOTE: I went back to the L.A. Times to reread the article before posting this, and they've replaced it with a similar, but less offensive article. I don't know if the link I've included still works.

1:01 PM PT: After reading some of the comments, I think I should point out the word "snark" in the tag line. This was written tongue in cheek and was meant to be lighthearted; I only wanted to take a dig at Sarah Palin, and to scold the L.A. Times for giving Malcolm a platform to push such ridiculous ideas.
Thanks for the comments.
