This week's entry in the Cavalcade of Words series rotates back to 100 Words.
Congratulations to Jaxpagan's favorite entry in last week's 5 Words series entry, written by The Geogre. He will be choosing his favorite entry out of this week's submissions, based on his chosen theme.
The "winning" entry from The Geogre below the fold, along with a quick recap of the rules for 100 Words, and a solicitation for more writing exercise ideas to add to the rotation, below the fold.
First, The Geogre's winning entry:
Spring, through sills
The flowers hold their petals apart, the doors to their hearts, poised like butterfly wings, whose efforts, the script of spring, never known, seldom more than stimulation and strangulation of impulse, illuminates and obscures the design, the dance, the urge, and the rest that is the hope of nature, and the keys of the soil's typewriter, the green leaves each flipping down and up in the breezes of sun warmth and night cool, spell out the drama, the comedy, and the applause.
Great stuff.
Now, a reminder of the rules for 100 Words. The submission can be in any style, (poetry, essay, story, etc.), with the writing based on the theme selected. It must be 100 words long; no more, no less.
This week's theme, as chosen by The Geogre is gluttons. A further word from The Geogre:
I would remind authors that gluttons are wasters and idolators of substance and should never, ever be confused with their victims.
Given that The Geogre will be judging this week's entries, I would take that suggestion to heart, were I you.
Now, onto another order of business. I have been pleased with the reception that 100 Words and Five Words have received. But that is not to say that there aren't other exercises which can't be added to the rotation of the series. If you have any thoughts, let me know.
Good writing, and above all, have fun.
