SB5 is Ohio's version of ALEC-written cut and paste legislation to deprive public employees of the right to collective bargaining for anything but wages and working conditions.  It removes from public workers in Ohio, state, county and local including cities, villages, townships, water districts, conservation districts, school boards, you name it, there is a public employee, their rights to organize are severely restricted in this most draconian law in the nation.

It is so radical, that Wisconsin recently took two provisions that are more radical than Wisconsin's unimplemented law and they are working to incorporate Ohio's twisted radical republicanism into Wisconsin's radical republicanism.

So while Wisconsin's law is held up because the legislature violated the Wisconsin Open Meetings Law, Ohio's enacted law, signed by our radical governor, John Kasich, is held up because we Ohioans have obtained the 10,000 valid signatures necessary for proceeding to the process to obtain 231,000 valid signatures necessary to place the repeal by voters on the ballot this November.

Following up the work by dnaps and others, I received a missive from the Ohio Democratic Party with a list of locations where every interested Ohioan can sign the petition.  I will link to the Ohio Democratic Party site, and put the list in the space after the fold.

Here is the list:

Where Do I Sign?

People across the state have been asking how they can sign the petition to repeal Senate Bill 5. So the Ohio Democratic Party, our county Parties and local activists have established numerous signing opportunities across the state.

We hope to see you soon at one of the locations below. And if you’ve already signed, please send your friends and family! Remember, we need 231,147 signatures to put Senate Bill 5 on the ballot and protect Ohio’s middle class! Don’t let John Kasich and extremists legislators threaten worker rights and destroy our communities – sign the petition today!

If you don’t see a convenient location below, please visit ProgressOhio’s statewide map, or e-mail us at info@ohiodems.org and we will help direct you to a petition.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

You can add a private note to this diary when hotlisting it:

stupid, or more likely, a sociopath that really doesn't care if he is obnoxious or not.  The ALEC treatise on being a radical rightie says it's ok to be obnoxious because in the end, you will own all the marbles and it doesn't matter if you are an asshole as long as you win.

          part about being obnoxious:

The Movement Must Be Willing to Appear Obnoxious

Our movement must be highly provocative. The thing we have most to fear is that we will be ignored.

Cultural conservatives must understand the predicament we are in. We must be willing to take measures that perhaps we would be unwilling to take under different, more ideal circumstances. We will have standards--we will never try to justify dishonesty, destruction of the personal reputation of our opponents, cheating, assault, etc., in the service of victory for our movement. However, we will not consider ourselves above appearing "unseemly" or surrendering some our personal dignity. We must be willing to shake people out of their complacency--which means being obnoxious if the situation requires it--because given the fact that the dominant leftist culture is safely ensconced, complacency only serves the interests of our opponents.

It is not enough to say that conservative philosophy is more sensible than that of the Left. If we leave it at that, we will only attract "sensible" people to our movement. But "sensible" people do not go to the barricades, they do not make great sacrifices for a movement. And the experience of the conservative movement has shown this to be the case. We need more people with fire in the belly, and we need a message that attracts those kinds of people. As Plato said, "madness comes from God, whereas sober sense is merely human." We should keep this in mind if we expect our people to make superhuman sacrifices for the movement. We must reframe this struggle as a moral struggle, as a transcendent struggle, as a struggle between good and evil. And we must be prepared to explain why this is so. We must provide the evidence needed to prove this using images and simple terms. Putting the debate in terms of mere freedom, the "leave us alone" mentality, does not inspire apocalyptic fervor.

Some will argue that "conservatives" do not believe in apocalyptic fervor. The reader should simply ask himself, is he happy with the state of cultural conservatism in this country? If not, does he think it likely that conditions will improve in the future by operating according to the current rules? And if not, is he willing to witness the death of true civilization in this country so that conservatism will not suffer the ungentlemanly taint of "fervor"? If the answer to any of these questions is yes, this movement will not appeal to the reader.

Source:  Eric Huebeck's "The Integration of Theory and Practice", subtitle "A Program for the New Traditionalist Movement"

So, being obnoxious is really not something an ALEC acolyte worries about.  It's just a means to an end.

the petition for 'health care freedom," aka repealing health care reform. I was accosted at the entrance to Hessler Street by a nice young woman in hippie clothes who could have been just another fairgoer. She didn't say what the purpose of her petition was (probably told not to) and when I said, "Is this about repealing health care reform?" she didn't answer, just said, "I guess you don't want to sign," and floated off.

The people trying to get health care repeal on the ballot are lying when they approach people with their petitions.

I was walking through Columbus State and there was a table set up for it.  A loud mouth guy behind it yelled at us to come over and sign.   When we refused he started getting abusive, and accused us of not having read it.  (That was right, but I was familiar with it so didn't have to read it to know it was BS.)  He yelled that everybody who read it was for it.  He kept yelling at us until we got 50 feet or so away.

to the Summit County location but something was off in it; when we got down there we were unable to find it.

This address works, and Google maps even has the office labeled.

At the time I was having trouble finding a petition, so I posted on We Are Ohio's facebook page that I needed to sign a petition for Trumbull, and a very nice woman messaged me; we set a time and place (she was willing to come to me pretty much whenever) and got it done.

So if the above times/places don't work for you, try that.
