The Father's day is a quite new celebration in the British calendar compared with the Day of the Mother, who has been a very popular festival and famous good in the United Kingdom for much a lot of time.
The origins of the celebration are the American and it was inspired by the actions of a man called Guillermo Smart. He was a veteran of the American Civil war and his wife died giving birth to his sixth child. He raised six alone children without marrying again, that was undoubtedly a rear stranger in that time.
His daughter, Sonora Dodd, realized when she was an adult what his father had sacrificed in favor of his children.
This was at the beginning of the year 1900 and she was really in the church one day, listening to a sermon during the Day of the Mother.
She thought that also there should be a celebration of Father's day.
And then the tradition was born, on the third Sunday every June, next to the anniversary of the death of the father of Sonorous. Great Britain took the idea of Father's day of the American celebration and it has been celebrated officially from the year 1970.
The Father's day is never completely such the commercial big event that the Day of the Mother is, probably because it has not been existed for so a lot of time.
