I'm not a hockey fan, but this is THE game for Lord Stanley's Cup.
It's my understanding that Boston last won the Cup 39 years ago and Vancouver has tried in vain twice in their 40 history.
By virtue of nothing more than geographic proximity, I'll 'root' for the Canucks.
No, this is NOT a diary. :)
They just showed Mason Ravin (sp?) in a back brace at rink side. HUGE cheer from the whole crowd to welcome and acknowledge him.
5:39 PM PT: I had a request for a hockey fight. Here's my favorite. ;)
5:44 PM PT: Bruins draw first blood with ~5 min left in 1st. Bruins 1-0
6:01 PM PT: End of first. First team to score has won the last six years
6:36 PM PT: Bruins score with ~8 min left in 2nd. Bruins 2-0
6:49 PM PT: Bruins score with ~2 min left in 2nd Bruins 3-0.
Good thing the Boston Police are preparing.
Boston police were also out in force to prevent any overly exuberant celebrations should the Bruins win Game 7 of their series with the Canucks in Vancouver.
Police gave special attention to streets in and around TD Garden, the home of the Bruins, banning on-street parking and erecting barricades to keep fans from gathering in large groups.
From Yahoo Sports
7:42 PM PT: Empty net.
And now a 4th goal with 3 min left in the 3rd. Bruins 4-0
Break out the forks, turn out the lights, etc.
Congratulations to the Boston Bruins!
8:00 PM PT: Bruin goalie, Tim Thomas wins the Conn-Smythe MVP.
Chara is first to touch The Cup.
The poll started with a clear Canuck lead and as the game result became obvious the Bruins picked up more votes. Game end it was 17-17-4.
