Folks I'm going to make this short and to the point. Fascism has arrived to the United States (again, and in a new an "improved" form). Well, it could be called Neo Fascism. But it has arrived. It's not longer something that could happen in the distance future; it's here today.
How did we get here? The ideological underpinnings of the current neo fascist regime has been in the works for about 40 years now, spearheaded by corporate think tanks like the Heritage Foundation, the Project for The New American Century, and many other organizations acting in unison. The inspiration for this movement can be found in the philosophies of Leo Strauss, and Ayn Rand, among others.
The neo fascist infrastructure was put in place and consolidated between 2001 and 2008. It is now being deployed and the pace of deployment is accelerating. The only chance we (the citizenry) have to stop it is if we act NOW. You can do it...
You don't have to alter your life, or make any big sacrifices, or take risks. About that for participating in a massive resistance movement? But you do need to take some sort of action.
While I wait for the leaders to arrive to start this overdue movement, I'll share some ideas which I hope will be implemented... It's kind of weird that in the face of what's happening we don't see people with the stature of a Malcom X, or Martin Luther King, Jr., or many of the heroic people who led every single protest and resistance movement we've had in the history of the nation. And by the way, not a single benefit and right we enjoy today came about without struggle.
Define
This is the most important step... There has to be a consensus about the fact that the entire U.S. government is now in the hands of a corporate neo fascist Oligarchy. If you come to term with this, everything you see happening around you in rapid succession (union busting, attacks against women's rights, privatization of public resources for profit, daylight robbery of trillions of dollars by Wall Street, curtailment of civil rights and the undermining of constitutional protections, etc.), will make sense.
It will also help you understand the urgency to take action now.
Educate
Let's define the problem and put it in language that the average person can understand (as Malcom X said in one of his speeches--see video below). Then disseminate and educate others about what's happening. Reach out to all the victims (the millions of people who have been brutalized by the crimes committed by the Oligarchs, including the millions of people victims of Wall Street ponzy schemes).
One idea would be to design a 4x6 (club) flyer with a very focused and powerful message calling attention to the current situation. Then select big media center cities (New York, Atlanta, San Francisco) and start a campaign to distribute these flyers (and the flyers can encourage people to visit a Website for information about joining forces).
Also send press releases to as many news outlets as possible (local, national, international).
Initially the corporate-owned media will try to ignore the movement (like they do now with all the protests going on), marginalize you, and/or discredit you. So we'll have to find ways to reach people in multiple ways.
Direct Action
So if we'll follow this flow... Define (and consensus), educate (public relations, disseminate), and then direct action.
But this needs to be done in a very organized, and disciplined manner. And it has to be done within the confines of the constitution, and it needs to be lawful. I know some people are very angry and are incline to think about a violent revolution, but the sniveling cowardly neo fascist sociopaths (SCNFS) running the country right now expect this and are ready to squash you down at the hint of any violence. They'll use words like terrorism, or assisting terrorism, etc., and there you go, to the slammer.
A massive, well-organized, and lawful resistance movement with staying power will really get the attention of SCNFS (let's coin that). I guarantee you they would tremble in the face of such movement. The power of such movement (any type of power) would be real, and also implied.
So while I'll wait for the leaders to recruit me, I'm going to start getting a show of hands and see if we can get something going.
Again, you don't have to do anything extraordinary or change your life in any way, or be inconvenienced. The reason I am harping on that is that part of the reason people feel apathy, or a sense of impotence, or fear, or they think the problem is too big and there is nothing they can do about is because they are being conditioned to feel like that. That's a major objective of the corporate own mainstream media. It serves as probably the most powerful and effective propaganda machine the world has ever known.
So to summarize: Let's reach consensus on the situation; let's educate and disseminate the message; let's take action.
Action:
Public Relations: This has to be ongoing and relentless, and for the long haul. What's needed are people who can do some research about the workings of the corporatist establishment. Is JP Morgan buying your city (by buying public resources to sell as investments)? What is ALEC up to? Then send press releases to all major news organizations, and community organizations, unions, etc.
Resistance/Protest Movement: No tutus, no pots and pans, no dancing, no jumping up and down as if in a carnival! Well-organized, serious. All banners, and signs, and logos (let's come up with a color and logo for branding of the movement) should be professionally made... Look at footage of protests during the labor movement. Notice how people tried to dress presentable, and the signs were professionally-made.
And important, the messaging has to be very focus: Remove the choke-hold of the SCNFS on our government.
Recruit powerful orators to deliver moving and motivating speeches at the protest rallies.
So we have to have a multi-pronged approach: Public relations, education, and outreach, and an ongoing (for the long haul) protest movement.
The protests should happen in multiple cities (trying to focus on big media and financial "markets").
Depending on the level of engagement, we could plan big protests in Washington (first once a year, and then twice, or more).
We'll need layers, economists, students, journalists, police officers, firefighters, nurses, unions, young people, retired people, to join the cause.
I'll leave you with this image... Two million people in Washington, D.C., organized, listening to powerful and impassioned (and moving) speeches. Behind this, multiple lawsuits, multiple freedom of information act requests, the encouragement of whistle blowers to come forward to report wrongdoing, an ongoing and relentless public relations and education campaign, peaceful (but forceful) demonstrations, massive labor strikes, supporting progressive leaders to run for office.
This thing is too big, and I'm just some dude writing in front of my computer, but folks, something like this needs to happen. I don't care if it's exactly like it, or something similar, but if there is anybody reading this that belongs to the myriad of progressive organizations out there, PLEASE GET MOVING. I'm ready to go...
MoveOn? Daily Kos owners? Netroots? Guys, get together and let's make something big happen! Let's show the SCNFS the closing FIST of a united front!
Notice the protest signs....
