The latest chapter in the right-wing war on Planned Parenthood and women's rights is seeking distribution in 20 cities across the US, in the form of a fictional documentary film that ties abortion to genocide of African-Americans, and features black male actors as armed, militant thugs who murder abortion doctors.
Gates of Hell is produced by Molotov Mitchell, the video commentator for the ultra-conservative website, WorldNetDaily. Mitchell's production company, Illuminati Pictures, has produced anti-abortion rights videos in the past, as well as other videos on right-wing topics.
Mitchell hooked up with a Finnish director for this latest venture, is described on the website promoting the film, and seeking donations to pay for distribution is described as follows:
Black power. Abortion. Terrorism. "Prophetic fiction". Three years in the making, "Gates of Hell" is a documentary from the year 2016 that chronicles the crimes of a band of domestic terrorists known as the Zulu 9. Finnish filmmaker Ani Juva travels to the United States to better understand the mysterious black power assassins, the bizarre eugenics conspiracy theory that drove them to commit extreme acts of violence and how America's political landscape was transformed forever. Blending real history and real public figures with a fictitious (yet plausible) future, it is safe to say that you have never seen a film like "Gates of Hell".
Well, they're right on one point; I've never seen a film like it, nor do I intend to do so.
Of the sought after goal of $100k and with 40 days left to raise it to meet their deadline, so far $435.00 has been raised even with all the listed 'perks,' like having your name mentioned in the credits and more!
The efforts attempting to link abortion rates to race have been ongoing, with mainly billboards popping up all across the country, and now morphing into this abortion as genocide meme. Presidential candidate Herman Cain has promotedthat message, as well as Brian Follett, who is the founder of Heroic Media:
“Genocide is a strong word, but it’s almost like that,” said Brian Follett, founder of Heroic Media, a faith-based anti-abortion organization created in April 2004 as the Majella Society.
Using celebrity speakers such as Sarah Palin and polished advertising via billboard, TV and the Internet, Heroic’s mission is to reduce the number of abortions by referring women to “crisis pregnancy resource centers,” charities (usually faith-based) that counsel pregnant women against abortion.
The women need “someone to sit down with them, put an arm around them and share with them that other people have been through these crisis pregnancies before, and to meet their social needs,” Follett said.
Palin and Gov. Rick Perry both appeared at a Dallas fundraiser last month to raise money for Follett’s group. Organizations like Planned Parenthood make women feel inferior by saying they can’t handle motherhood, Palin said at the time.“I’m very grateful for [Heroic Media] telling young women that they are strong enough,” she said.
The centers Heroic Media is promoting are supported with taxpayer funds.
Mitchell also appears in his film as one of the 'actors,' as does Republican Bobby Franklin, who is the current representative for the 43rd district in the state of Georgia.
