Wisconsin’s Governor Scott Walker will be holding a budget signing ceremony at the Badger Sheet Metal Works facility in Ashwaubenon this Sunday, June 26th at 2PM. While Walker’s budget would devastate Main Street businesses, public education, health care and programs for children and working families– it will actually continue to give tax handouts to some of the state’s richest individuals and special interests.
This includes the host of the event, Greg DeCaster – owner of Badger Sheet Metal Works. Mr. De Caster is a business executive with a history that includes felony charges of tax evasion that he was ordered to serve time for. (USA versus Decaster Case#: 2:94-CR-00051)
Mr. De Caster and Badger Sheet Metal Works were more recently defendants in a business dispute with an Arizona company where De Caster was charged with identity theft, breach of contract, and wrongful distribution, among other charges (LONGMARK INDUSTRIES, LLC, versus Badger Sheet Metal Works of Green Bay, et al.No. 07-C-1006 WCG. January 7, 2008.) The case was settled in June of 2009.
While DeCaster has served his time in jail and paid his debt to society, it is ironic that the Governor would choose to sign this budget at a business owned by someone who was once convicted of the felony of tax evasion.
A Walker spokesperson, after hearing about the charges, swears that the Governor never knew DeCaster was a tax cheat.
11:02 AM PT: Walker backs down. Will not have a signing ceremony on Sunday at Badger Sheet Metal Works as planned. http://www.jsonline.com/... "Gov.
