I want to point out something that many people seem to forget about recent elections here in WI Senate District 10.
6 weeks before the supreme court election, nobody in my area even knew who Joanne Kloppenburg was. In fact, many people I spoke to about the election didn't even know Wisconsin elected supreme court justices. In those 6 weeks, grassroots volunteers in my county and across the state managed to wrangle enough votes for Kloppenburg that she almost won. 6 weeks before the election, she was estimated at being 30-35 points behind Prosser, if memory serves. Kloppenburg lost statewide by less than one percentage point. that is a HUGE gap to overcome. We managed to close the gap in my district more than we ever thought possible.
Do you know what is especially remarkable about the closing of that gap in WI Senate District 10? We did it while we were still working on the recall. We did it with divided forces.
I've been directly involved in this thing since early March. I have been at this for almost 4 months. So have hundreds of other grassroots volunteers. It is a marathon, not a sprint. Yes, it's been stressful, and trying. The GOP is underestimating the level of energy we have left, though. Now that we've caught a glimpse of the finish line, we are more dedicated than ever before, and we're going to finish this.
We have 6 weeks to close a 5 point gap. A 5 point gap is amazingly small, considering the history of our district. Please, please don't write us off.
