Joan Parker, 74, was cited at the Salisbury, NC, LGBT Pride event last weekend, for simple assault for kissing street preacher James Edward Belcher, 49, who was protesting the event.
She says he was yelling and waving his Bible, and she just thought he needed a hug.

"A 74-year-old woman from Colfax, N.C., who came to support the Salisbury Pride festival, kissed a street preacher on the mouth, Police Chief Rory Collins said.”
This is incorrect. Joan Parker was CHARGED WITH kissing him on the mouth following the demand by the street preacher that she be charged with assault.
I was facing the street preacher, about 2 feet away, when Joan kissed him ON THE CHEEK. She never kissed him on the mouth.
The preacher initially asked his bodyguard if he got a photo of the kiss, and pointed to his CHEEK. He changed his story when the police captain arrived – from about three feet away – and he demanded Joan be charged with assault.
