I have been pondering over what to name this diary. I have so much I want to say and yet not want to repeat myself like a broken record. I would first like to update the veterans and all the Kossacks who inspired me to quit whining and continue my advocacy.
For three days straight, I have spent a little time working with a few vets who are
really having a hard time this 4th of July. People do not realize that the firecrackers and replica of the Bombs bursting in air of celebration, work on a combat veteran a little differently from the rest of we civilians. The sounds for many take them to places they rather avoid but somehow carry on brave as usual.
I want to share my great big thank you to Kossacks and Netroots for the Troops for the work they have done and continue to do. You guys rock and I hope I will get to Rhode Island next year and offer up some help with those care packages .
I also
wish to remind people that we must stand together whether we agree or not on our mission in these wars. I personally do not know why we are still occupying countries but until every last solider gets out of those combat zones, it is our duty to support their sacrafice. I have posted a few things on here including a pic of my computer via u tube. My six year old asked me if she could make a video for the vets and I said yes. I call her Vetkid. Today, as I walked down by the museum and saw flags flying and memorials on the lawn honoring our veterans, I could not help but wonder how this little town in which I now reside could be named the most patriotic city in America and I did not know that when I moved here, be run by democrats, and yet the democratic party is called unpatriotic all across this country. What an oxymoran !! It is republican folks who do this and yes we have our share of teapartiers but not so much as many towns across America.
This town is full of life and vigor and respect for the veterans and troops. The town also have a great deal of compassion and empathy from what I have observed regarding it's citizens. This 4th reminded me of how elections are won, jobs are obtained, and dreams fulfilled. It starts from the bottom and goes up. Grassroots. We do have a lousy governor but Rick Scott is a one termer if he doesn't resign before the next election. Too many with buyers remorse.
I love my computer.. I love you guys and I love my work. I watch and admire so many activists on this site and know with this many active in change, then we have a chance to become a more perfect union. My 16 year old daughter told me that almost all of her high school friends give back. They volunteer in the summer and all year long. That is inspiring. I come here to pay tribute to all of you and to say I am so glad to be part of two communities. The one in which I reside and the one that feel a kindred spirit to online. The Daily Kos. I want to personally thank our veterans on this site, I want to especially High Five folks likeTestVet, Wayward Wind, llbear, Danang 65 Texas Dem, Angelajean, and all the other activists who go the extra mile for our Veterans and troops and military families. I apologize for overlooking by name some of you but heros know who they are. That is a direct quote from Evel Knievel. (LOL).
Sara, with her quilts, the great story tellers, the music groups and Native Americans like Aji, Wings, Obijwai, and all of their rich history they bring to the table. I love the fact we honor our fallen daily and not just on memorial day and will be glad when IGTNT ceases to be. As long as we have troops dying, this group will exist. I just hope the wars end soon.
I appreciate the fact that Marcos started this site and encouraged the advocacy of all who wanted to participate and even puts up with a few pie fights. As we approach the coming year of elections, let us look and see how we as a people can bring our talents to the table of America and do our part to make this a more perfect union of the people, by the people and for the people. Let us extend our hearts, minds, bodies and souls to preserving this nation and making it better. We all have a talent. Let's just get er done. Tap it and use it. Speak up..speak out and unite. Let us teach our young the better angels of our nature so they may lead in the future. It is up to all of us to make sure they have a future Happy 4th of July from my family to yours.
And a song for all of you on this 4th ! It ain't perfect....but we are still trying to make it so !!!!
