I'm not one to clog up the Recent Diaries list with too many entries, but you gotta check this out from Pete Peterson.
His Oligarchy Times has published this bizarre feature(?) story about the plight of the rich in today's world:
"Down and Out on $250,000 a Year"
The pull-out quote from the article?
The bottom line: It’s not exactly easy street for our $250,000-a-year family, especially when they live in high-tax areas on either coast.
Untrue:
You have to be a fucking moron to not make ends meet on $250,000 a year, anywhere in the country.
It's hard to pick out paragraphs in this ridiculous article that aren't totally offensive.
The worst are the anti-tax screeds proclaiming innocent income-earners of $250,000 a year being so punitively taxed that they can barely make ends meet.
If it's so hard to make it on $250,000 ...
How fucking hard is it going to be to make it on $34,000 a year, which is the median income for a household of two people? How about the $55,000 a year that is the median for a family of four?
And think of the median this way:
Half the country is surviving on less than those numbers.
When is government policy ever going to support them?
How about some articles about their situation from the Oligarchy Times and its partners at the Washington Post/Kaplan Test Prep Co.?
