Seems kinda cheesy. And absurd.
But I can't help it. I've got two young children. And I am so glad they don't have to deal with shit like this:
This is so reminiscent of Amadou Diallo. Three white cops in plain clothes. In a black neighborhood. Here, they beat Jordan so badly his own mother didn't recognize him. Of course, they falsified the police report.
In the Diallo case, it was three plain clothes undercover police - all white - that pumped 41 rounds into an unarmed black man in the vestibule of his apartment building.
Imagine, if you will...
Three black cops in hoodies. Stalking a college campus. Beating an unarmed white kid because he took off running in fear of life and limb. He's an honor roll student, and was invited to meet the First Lady when she toured his school. When his mother arrived at the police station, she didn't recognize him because he was so disfigured from the beating.
Then it turned out that the three black cops falsified their paperwork in order to cover their tracks.
Does anyone really think that these cops would enjoy a year off, with pay, while the feds investigated? Does anyone really believe that the feds would decide there was "nothing to see here"? Would a white community brush their shoulders off when the same three black cops were returned to the street?
So yeah. It's disgusting, absurd, and outrageous. But at the same time, it makes all the sense in the world: I'm grateful for the DNA strands that gave me and my children Caucasian features. I'm grateful that my kids won't have to deal with a bullshit world in which they can be abused with impunity by ignorant cops. Where they have to walk on eggshells, every single fucking day, lest they offend a Caucasian wearing a badge.
One last comment: Imagine these cops had treated a dog the way they treated Jordan. Imagine they kicked it, broke its bones, and pulled its hair out by the fistful... What result? Now consider that the cops that did that to Jordan were placed on paid leave for a year, and have now been returned to their jobs.
Do me a favor.
