We've seen a bunch of stuff these guys have accomplished so far: shutting down Minnesota in particular.

They are ever-so-happy to do far worse.

Sen. DeMint ‘willing’ to cause ‘serious disruptions’ to U.S. economy

If the government defaults, America’s credit worthiness would be significantly impacted, Social Security payments would be frozen, the nation’s gross domestic product would tumble and active duty soldiers would not receive their paychecks.
But Demint's OK with that.

More friggin nonsense from crazed people with lots of power and a network on which to catapult this dangerous crap:

“The reason the president hasn’t addressed the issue even though we knew it was facing us, and this is the fourth time he’s asked for an increase in the debt limit, he has been burning time — that’s what Biden was supposed to do is get the Republicans behind closed doors — is burn the clock up until we have a crisis,” he told Judge Napolitano, Fox Business’s libertarian host.
Everybody knows republicans - these same assholes - voted 19 times to raise the debt limit during the reign of the Worst President in the History of Time.
“So now we’re at the point where there would have to be some serious disruptions in order not to raise it. I’m willing to do that, I just don’t think we can find enough of Republicans and Democrats to say it’s time to stop spending.”
Republicans, conservatives, Teabaggers - these people are hellbent on destroying our jobs and our entire economy.

Their pointy little heads are filled with an incoherent, racist, anti-government mishmash of half-baked ideas upon which they are basing real-world actions and they will take us all to Hell in a handbasket with them.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

    •  If only DeMint's paycheck (0+ / 0-)

would stop permanently, and without harming the rest of the country. Perhaps on some future January 3rd this dream could become a reality.

  •  DeMint is trying to save the party (0+ / 0-)

and he'll do whatever it takes. Pretty sad when one party's interests are placed above the country's.

I've come to the conclusion that, despite all their moralizing and yammering about social conservative issues, today's Republican Party are nothing more than a pack of nihilists, believing in nothing, and taking any position on any issue on any day, if it will further their narrow, selfish interests.

to support South Carolina to pay other bills, then DeMint will start to have second thoughts.  These GOPers are not as tough as they seem.  They're just audacious and they take advantage of our willingness to work within the system when they want to break the system.  However, every one of these GOPers has voted for massive deficits and debt and all of them took government money through the stimulus.  They're just hypocrites who hate anyone they don't culturally identify with.

I believe a default is coming.  I don't think the GOP has any intention of giving a substantial chunk of votes to support tax increases or end corporate tax breaks.  I don't think there are enough Democratic votes in the House to support massive medicare/medicaid cuts.  Social security is a non-starter because it makes no contribution at all to the deficit/debt and is in fact owed money.
