... if Rick Perry is the GOP Nominee.
H/T to The Burnt Orange Report:
More Polling: Perry Leads all GOP Nope-fuls in TX Primary and PPP Polls: "Texas Lukewarm on Perry Bid".
These two polls point out that, while Rick Perry is the most likely candidate to get the GOP nod from Texas (31% leads the field), he (45%) is actually very weak against President Obama (47%).
As a Texan, I hope Rick Perry becomes the GOP Nominee and Texas becomes a battleground State. Perry's weakness might depress the GOP vote in the 2012 General Election and any money Obama puts into the State will help drive up the Democratic vote statewide.
I can't do anything to affect the Redistricting process, but I expect the GOP legislature to reenact their previous Redistricting plan and actually weaken many of the current GOP Districts with the hope they can increase the strength of their delegation in Washington.
I will work to increase the Democratic turnout and hope a Perry candidacy will actually lead to a Democratic swing in Texas.
