Welcome to Sunday Coffee All Day! This is our place to relax, reflect on the week, share our joys and sorrows. If you are new here or just lurking, please stop in and introduce yourself. We are a friendly crowd and polite points of view are all welcome. What is new and good in your world? Please let us know!
The news this week was still gloomy. The government insists there is no medical use for marijuana, but apparently they haven't been watching the debt ceiling talks! When I was a girl in ancient times a politician tried to be a "man of the people"(or woman). Now they seem to be a man of the "people who can drink $350 bottles of wine over lunch."(as Paul Ryan did) There was another earthquake in Japan, the arctic ice is melting fast, but the tv news was covering one sad trial around the clock. In the UK, the tabloid press grew even too disgusting for the British who make their trashy newspapers best-sellers. Reporters were shown to have gotten into the voicemail of a dead girl's phone and deleted messages, giving her parents false hope that she was alive. As a mother, I find that to be so offensive that I can't see straight.
In good news, well, the young royal couple are visiting Canada and the US. I am not a big fan of royals, but they do look deeply in love and happy and I wish them the best. The corn is high here in North Carolina, which made for a pretty back roads drive yesterday. I went to the outlet mall to return something and then discovered I had picked up the wrong box. In good news, McDonald's makes a refreshing strawberry frozen lemonade and that cooled me all the drive back home.
So, come in and share your summer plans. My son's close buddies are off on a trip to Toronto tomorrow so he will be a bit lonely and grumpy while they are away, I suspect. I should ask them to bring me back some low-cost medicines. And cooler temperatures.
