I understand why you love him. I understand why you think he's the greatest thing since sliced bread. I also think you're wrong.
And I think that the reason you love him, is because he's your fandom.
(Complicated Explanation on the Flip)
Now, remember back during the console wars when you could only get certain games on certain systems. Of course, most of us were too broke to afford all the game systems, so as a result we had to make a choice.
And then, DURN it! The best game ever came out on the OTHER system! So, instead of saying, oops, we made a mistake, fanboys across the world would double down and claim that the GREATEST game EVA! was in fact a complete piece of shit, only appealing to
A: Dumb kids (If it was a simple but fun game)
B: Total Dweebs (If said game was deeply engrossing and complicated)
C: Lousy because it was the ONLY good game on said system, ignoring all evidence to the contrary.
Now, I understand the thought process. You want to not feel like you made a mistake. You want to believe that he's the best for this country. You want to feel like the time and effort buying into his promises weren't a waste of time. So instead of criticizing him, or remembering why you voted for him in the first place, you DOUBLE DOWN, and claim that anyone who isn't a raving fanboy, is
A: A dumb Idealist (Who needs to learn how the system REALLY works)
B: A total Elitist (What do you really want? A Communist? Come on!)
C: Not realizing that so much GOOD stuff has come out of his administration, ignoring all the stuff that he refused to fight on, or caved so fast that it made my head spin.
So, yeah, you're a fanboy. You want to be on the winning team! I get it. It's like Trekkies vs. Warsies. XBOX fans VS. PS fans. Giants Vs. Dodgers.
I suppose I shouldn't be surprised. Politics has become so much about the personalities/marketing it might as well be a fandom.
I just wish that I had a team I could root for, but unfortunately, nobody seems to be making my show. Well, he was around for a little while but they cancelled him in the first season...
God I miss Firefly... Uh, I mean Dean.
