I'm amused by all the people dancing victory jigs over Mr. Murdoch's difficult week. Some seem to think he's a dead man walking, at least as far as his control over worldwide media is concerned.
But I've seen no diminishing of Fox's ability to control the news narrative over the past week, and I quite frankly harbor no hopes that a wire-tapping scandal can bring down this monster.
Has there been a groundswell of demand from AP members (newspapers, TV stations, Salon.com, etc.) for Rupert Murdoch to quit the Associated Press board? From that perch, he influences the content of nearly every daily publication in America, virtually every news Web site (including Huffington Post & Salon), TV stations, radio, you name it. That's just a small sliver of the vast power he still holds. His minions will continue to dramatically influence the debt ceiling debate through Aug. 2 and beyond.
So far, I've seen few significant developments that give me much hope for the demise of Murdoch's kingdom of lies.
