Artscape is a three day event held around the Maryland Institute of Art incorporating food, art, & music. There are craft booths, hands on creative areas for kids of all ages, & various stages for music. It is free, & attracts an eclectic crowd.
My husband & I attended yesterday & today, & loved the creative buzz that was in the air. As we walked through all the streets, we noticed that there were people holding signs for voter registration. Upon closer review every one of them were wearing Obama buttons!
Of course this made me smile even more, & I walked up to one today to say I am already registered, but go team Obama! She then asked if I had signed up on the "I'm all in" sheet. I had not so I took the time to do so. We chatted a bit about how excited we still were from the last election, our reactions when he won, & our determination to help him win again.
As I walked on through the fair I looked in vain for any republicans doing the same. None. So it got me to thinking that they have already dismissed an entire population of people who support the arts as a lost cause.
That made me happiest of all.
