A couple days ago, I wrote a diary on voting reform. I got six commenters, and one of them just had drive-by non-sequitors.
So I'm asking for your help.
To me, voting reform is an important issue. It could be just as game-changing as Citizen's United was, in the other direction. In fact, it would have synergistic effects with campaign finance reform, both of them giving grass roots movements more real power to take on corporate spin and lies.
The problem is, that it's not an easy issue to teach about. It would be easy to get lost in the technical details; but on the other hand, nobody will buy into promoting a system they don't understand. And even if you manage to strike the right balance there, what selling points should I focus on? There are so many advantages to voting reform that it's important to keep focused on just a few; but people are so used to zero-sum thinking that when I talk about how voting reform will benefit one group, people from other groups are afraid that it will be at their expense.
So, please help me craft my message. Any comments - even "get a life" - are welcome and will get my recommendation. You can read my other diary and comment on how I crafted my message there, or you can just vote in the poll. (Sorry, I don't have room for any joke options in the poll, but obviously I'd love for "dkos polling reform", that is, to give pollers the option to use approval-style polls.)
Thanks!
