In a previous diary, I've expressed admiration for JFK, during the steel crisis. Some have argued that any potential threat or actual invocation of 14A Sec. 4, cannot be justified w/o Sec. 5 (i.e. legislation).
Apparently our side hasn't explained to enough folks that: "The US gov't can't pick and choose between which obligations that it will pay."
It's not as if the nation is a consumer who can pay their full mortgage and credit cards, while ignoring all other bills - AND EXPECTING that there will be NO INCREASE IN INTEREST RATES."
Repubs are playing into Obama's hands. It's about time we had a Dem Pres who was willing to confront the Repubs, in order to assist the nation. Obama will be forced by the markets to cut a deal (which is exactly what the Repubs are anticipating). But the Repubs won't be able to get the votes. And, finally ... he will be forced (by the fools) to channel JFK - just as Bill Clinton recently advised.
P.S.: It's amazing to me that folks like Ed Rollins and all the Repub consultants and candidates are willing to push this to Armageddon ... are they just sleazing off their payments. sigh Ed Rollins really should know better.
