So the fruitcake who stated on a Yahoo finance thread that President Obama "will have a 50 cal in the head soon" and exhorted other posters to shoot Obama, did not violate the law according to a 2-1 decision by the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. Read the full opinion.
In my opinion, it is great news that "predictions or exhortations" to violence is not the same as threatening to kill the President. Why? Because I've had a number of a bumper sticker ideas floating around my head after seeing some of the shit in Oklahoma on people's vehicles.
The other day while I was at a big box store to buy filtered water (yes, water in the midwest sucks due to corporate agriculture, local pollution, etc.) I saw this dandy "Support America / Impeach Obama". I really wanted to write on it- "Because he's black?"
You too can see all the anti-obama merchandising that Cafepresshas to offer the Tea Party to make a buck.
After looking for "anticonservative"gear at cafepress, I found the sentiment lacking in terms of ferocity and well, just plain equality in terms of anti obama crap they're hocking.
My ideas for bumper stickers, after the fold.
My first idea for a bumper sticker, would read "Death to Corporate Personhood!"
Another might be "Save America by Hanging the Republican Traitors" complete with noose and tree.
Perhaps another "You hate Obama because he's black, right?"
Yet another would depict a Ku Klux Klan member burning at the stake, along with a Dixie Flag and will read "Save the Future, Don't Vote Conservative"
I was also fairly partial to the idea of the simplest tactic; "Have You Killed a Republican Lately?" With a big yellow smiley face.
Perhaps an AK-47 logo with "2nd Amendment works for us as well as you. I've got mine."
Or maybe for the horror movie fans, "Kill a Zombie Republican, America Needs You!" complete with spiked baseball bat and a prone Zombie Reagan on the ground.
Anyway, just a few thoughts (A Modest Proposal?) on how the Courts have changed the law regarding threats to government officials. In bad taste? Certainly. Legal? Apparently so.
Best to find some way to make a buck off the new changes by exhorting violence against the officials selling out America for corporate interests. It is after all, the American way.
And if you have thoughts for a bumper sticker, shirt or other gear for online sellers, why not post your own "I've secretly wanted this on my vehicle/self/child but I can't find it anywhere" in the response section.
