Rant alert--
Things that need to be said, over and over. Just say these things, and not other things.
Just say any of the following things, rather than what people want to hear, or what is the socially acceptable go along, get along thing to say. Rather than say "yes" or "no", say some of these things. Say them with simplicity and dignity and faith in the fact that they need to be said.
Even if no one reacts, or seems to care, keep saying them.
(more after the fold)
*Republicans do not favor helping "job creators." This is because Republicans and corporatists do not create wage-paying jobs in the United States of America. The people whose taxes Republicans want to slash, and whose interests they defend, have created NO JOBS here in the United States in a decade. But they have created THOUSANDS OF JOBS IN INDIA, CHINA, AND OTHER OUTSOURCED CHEAP-LABOR COUNTRIES. The "job creators" line about Republicans and corporations is bullshit. It is no longer true and should not be accepted by anyone who hears it. Call them on their bullshit!
*There is an open secret in this country that everyone should call out and not permit to go unacknowledged as a problem anymore: the fact that outsized corporate interests are deleterious to the healthy functioning of American politics. Corporations and businesses with unlimited money are able to funnel money to, and use media and public-sphere structures to influence, political decisions, even though they are not individuals and have not been able to "vote" within the electoral system. All these businesses and corporations who exercise undue and limitless influence on areas under the purview of elected politicians, without being apportioned the right to vote under our Constitution, are a threat to the healthy functioning of American public and political life, and should be treated as such.
*The current Republican party is dangerous to the healthy functioning of American politics. These people are not serious about governing. They want to "reduce government"; "drown government in a bathtub"; "get government out of our lives". They are liars when they take the oath of office and swear to uphold the Constitution and represent those who have elected them. They lie when they state to people that they want to go into government to help voters and improve the country or the state or the city. Republicans lie when they tell voters that they want to represent them in Washington or in the state capital, because they have no intention of representing individual citizens, or of helping citizens and taking into account the needs of citizens. Rather, they are only interested in doing corporate bidding, or advancing legislation to help businesses and the wealthy, or in throwing a bone to right-wing groups who have adopted the Republican party as their doghouse. This is a radical and dangerous path that Republicans have taken, and it has no place in the healthy functioning of our government.
*There is no such thing as a "conservative" in Republican or Tea Party circles. It is a misnomer and a falsehood to claim that they are interested in "conserving" anything that most Americans hold dear as part of the American way of life. Republicans and Tea Party members are radicals, destructive of longstanding American values and institutions. They do not respect our Constitution and they truly believe that the ends justify the means-- with their "ends" (namely advancing the interests of the wealthy and advancing the notion that God, Heaven and Rapture are superior to anything here on earth among working, living, breathing everyday citizens) grounded in a profound and necessary disrespect for law and jurisprudence. Therefore, they should be openly and repeatedly acknowledged to be radical activists committed to the destruction of the American way of life and to the undoing of generations of American legal precedent. Their beliefs and values and practices are dangerous and unhealthy for our Republic and should be acknowledged as such.
