There has already been talk about the Republican senators and congressmen who with no apparent sense of shame signed a pledge to Grover Norquist never to raise taxes even if only for the richest 1 percent.
Well, these Republicans aren't the only ones who have signed the Norquist pledge. GOP governors and state legislators have also signed the Norquist pledge.
Those senators and congressmen who have placed their pledge to Norquist over their pledges to their constituents have brought great shame to their party and country because of their insistance that the richest 1 percent keep their ill-gotten tax cuts at the expense of the rest of us. Those state legislator-governor signees (yes, including our state's piece of scum governor, Rick Perry), deserve no less scrutiny and shame for their signing the irresponsible Norquist pledge.
More below.
If Rick Perry really wanted to run as a "Washington outsider" in his quest for the presidency, why did he sign the Norquist pledge? Is he so willing to protect the richest 1 percent that he, like his GOP breatheren in Congress, is willing to gut programs like Medicare and Social Security in order to fulfill his pledge to Norquist?
I sure hope the outsider veneer gets ripped off Perry so flagerently that he is exposed as one who ran the Texas state treasury to the ground while only expanding the job market for low wage-earning jobs (like flipping hamburgers at McDonald's).
In addition, I am saddened to say that my area's two Republican state legislators, Chris Harris (State Senate District 9) and Linda Harper Benz, uh, Brown (House District 105) also signed the Norquist pledge. (Needless to say, my area's out-of-touch Taliban-loving congressman, Pete Sessions (TX-32), also signed the pledge.
I sure hope these Norquist first, people last politicians see total political defeat next year. And I sure hope some strong Democratic opponents can be found to challenge my state's GOP Norquist pledgers in next year's elections.
