Republicans
spent weeks saying that a short-term debt limit deal would be unacceptable.
Then on Friday and over the weekend, President Obama and Congressional Democrats made it clear that they, too, felt a short-term debt limit deal would be unacceptable.
You know what's coming next, right?
Yep, you guessed it: Republicans say they want a short-term debt limit deal.
I guess they are having so much fun holding the economy hostage that they want to have this fight all over again six months from now.
But as Greg Sargent points out, there's virtually nobody else in the country who agrees with them. We're sick and tired of this drama. Instead of reliving this debt limit hostage crisis, Congress should be figuring out how to grow the economy. Apparently, House Republicans disagree.
