If all of the conservatives in this country were required to take a brainwashing class (I mean class for "conservative talking points") in order to be considered for media and political roles, this would be one of the lessons. No matter how gruesome or horrible or tragic a situation may be, never let it go to waste. You should use it to your advantage. The Norwegian tragedy is a perfect example of that. It only happened last Friday and conservatives have been in full "blame the muslims" mode. Well, "the muslims" had nothing to do with this. That's not going to stop the right-wingers in this country from using this tragedy to push their agenda of getting rid of everybody who isn't conservative and doesn't look like them. You know, liberals, the working class, women, and and virtually any minority who hasn't kissed their asses yet.
Leave it to the conservatives to take any bad situation and use it scare the living hell out of people. It's a bad economy and it's known to work. Lets start with MSNBC's residential crazy man Pat Buchanan. Pat found a way to pull the good old "yeah, but" when it comes to the attacks in Norway. He wrote an article for World Net Daily in which he claims that Anders Behring Breivik "is evil – a cold-blooded, calculating killer – though a deluded man of some intelligence, who in his 1,500-page manifesto reveals a knowledge of the history, culture and politics of Europe. He admits to his "atrocious" but "necessary" crimes, done, he says, to bring attention to his ideas and advance his cause: a Crusader's war between the real Europe and the "cultural Marxists" and Muslims they invited in to alter the ethnic character and swamp the culture of the Old Continent." Here's the part in which Pat proves that he graduated from Conservative Nonsense University in the top 10 of his class.
“As for a climactic conflict between a once-Christian West and an Islamic world that is growing in numbers and advancing inexorably into Europe for the third time in 14 centuries, on this one, Breivik may be right.”
Never let a tragedy go to waste. Now on to Glenn Beck and it was a matter of time before he put his two cents in on this issue. If you can take the deaths of 76 people and use it to beat down on socialism, Glenn would be the first in line to try it. He delivered in Beckian form when he made the extremely bogus comparison of the youth camp with the Hitler Youth.
“As the thing started to unfold and there was a shooting at a political camp, which sounds a little like the Hitler Youth. Who does a camp for kids that’s all about politics? Disturbing,”
It makes sense to Glenn because in his warped mind, kids are completely uninterested in politics. I wonder if this applies to the kids he used to have on his failed Fox News show. The tragedy isn't even a week old and the bodies are freshly dead and here comes Captain Beck with his pointless (and WRONG) Hitler analogies. Once again, never let a tragedy go to waste. I'm not surprised by Glenn Beck going completely nuts about this incident. He has to find a way to stay in the news, insult foreign nations, and disgrace this country at the same time. Conservatives have been lining up left and right to place the blame on Muslims and to insult those who were killed. A lot of right-wingers, from Pat Robertson to Erick Erickson, have used this tragedy to push their hatred towards Muslims. It's ironic because the killer himself has anti-Muslim views. If I were on a news network or had a radio show, I would catch flack for saying that the gunman would fit in just fine with American conservatives. I would never hear the end of it. I believe that when it all comes down to it, we are all capable of being monsters. We are all capable of committing terrible acts. We are all capable of using a terrible event to push our agenda. However, we are also capable of not doing any of those things. Well, that is unless you happen to be a conservative American.
We know that conservatives are stupid. These are the people who worship a man who believes that the recent heatwave is a hoax or a conspiracy. Let me guess, the people who died were rounded up and carted off to one of President Obama's "death panels," right? These are the people who believe that Global Warming is a hoax. I think someone else believed that too. To the conservatives who are still demonizing and attacking Muslims for this tragedy, and think that what happened in Norway should serve as a wake up call against the "dangers" of their religion and not the dangers of religion as a whole, perhaps you should spend your time making sure that none of your "supporters" go postal. You know, the ones who shoot up abortion clinics because the man in their head told them that babies are being killed there. You can only fuel hatred for so long until someone decided to act on it. The right-wing in America has been doing that for years and they will continue to do so. There will be another domestic terrorist attack (or an attempt at one) in America. Looking at the way conservatives supply unstable people with an unhealthy dose of insanity and hate on a daily basis, it's only a matter of time. But don't worry America. They'll blame it on death metal or Grand Theft Auto. If that doesn't work, blame it on those damned Muslims like you always do.
