which will be over the 2012 Federal Budget. Remember, the 2011 fiscal year ends on September 30th. After that, we will need continuing resolutions from Congress to run the government. I believe this debt crisis thing has been milked pretty well. As the GOP will get its precious spending cuts with no additional taxation.
TPM quotes Steny Hoyer:
(Reuters)
This is not analogous to '95. This was a dispute -- and very frankly I think we're going to be back at that dispute come October 1 of this year. They passed appropriation bills that won't pass the Senate. They know that. This is a crowd that is committed to simply its political, ideological agenda. Not to making law."
Even if the debt limit fight is resolved without lasting consequences for the country, House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-MD) predicted Tuesday that the country will face more perilous brinksmanship when funding for the federal government expires at the end of September.
That's right. Another hostage situation. I mean why not?
So, considering that the GOP has already passed a 2012 budget, the Ryan Plan, and a continuing resolution will be needed to keep the government open, what do you think Republicans are going to do when that day comes?
And what do you think President Obama will do in the days leading up to it?
We lost over the Bush Tax Cuts. We lost over the 2011 Budget. We lost the debt ceiling fight. Every time, we have gone out our way to appease the hostage takers and negotiate with terrorists, blackmailers, and extortionists. When is enough going to be enough? When are we going to start treating the Republican Party like the racketeer influenced and corrupt organization that it is?
Are we gonna go down this road, yet again? Trying to negotiate with them and appease them for their support. Or are we finally going to get tough with these bastards and beat them, even if it means a shutdown?
You know where I stand.
