I'd try to include a couple of the e-mails that look like they come directly from my schools financial aid office, but yahoo's virus filter nixed the contents. I think you get the idea, spam e-mails using a screen name that hints at some form of official connection with my school formatted in such a way that they could be mistaken for an e-mail from the financial aid office. This semester if the first time I've gotten something like this.
Look flat out the sender of this spam is engaged in, at the minimum, deceptive marketing. SFASU Tuition Bill Due sounds like an automatically generated e-mail from my school. The domain studentloanview.com could easily be mistaken as a link to the schools financial aid portal. To top things off the loans they offer, with no indication of the interest rates, will survive a bankruptcy. Sure, I am able to tell the difference, I wonder though if an incoming freshman with no experience working with the financial aid office would be able to tell that these are not official emails.
