MSNBC recently posted an article about psychologist and social scientist Dascha Keltner and his study titled "Social Class as Culture: The Convergence of Resources and Rank in the Social Realm." Keltner, the lead author on the study, says that the rich simply more selfish and less likely to look out for other people.
“We have now done 12 separate studies measuring empathy in every way imaginable, social behavior in every way, and some work on compassion and it’s the same story,” [Dascha] said. “Lower class people just show more empathy, more prosocial behavior, more compassion, no matter how you look at it.”
True or not? I haven't read the whole study yet but that sure sounds persuasive.
