So last night, Herman Cain wanted to show that he is a well read man, who is versed in the greatest of poetry and literature of our language and time. So he decided to quote a great poet...
One of the weirdest moments of last night's Republican debate probably slipped completely under the radar for most viewers. This moment occurred in Herman Cain's closing statement, when the former pizza-chain CEO recited a favorite inspirational quote:
"A poet once said, 'life can be a challenge, life can seem impossible, but it's never easy when there's so much on the line.'"
Inspirational! Such moving words, hell, it makes me want to get out of my bed right now and go do something! But...but wait a minute...

Life can be a challenge
Life can seem impossible
It's never easy when so much
Is on the line
IT'S THE EXACT SAME!

"The Power of One" is a song performed by Donna Summer, which is the theme song to the movie Pokémon: The Movie 2000. Pokémon: The Movie 2000, subtitled The Power of One is the second feature-length film based on the Japanese Pokémon video game series, released in late 1999
Here is the song (with Poke-rific images for YOUR pleasure!)

Now, being a 20 year old, I grew up with Pokemon. Pokemon WAS my childhood. But Donna Summer, a great poet? This song, great poetry? I think not. But, apparently, this is NOT the first time he has done this. He must be a Pokemon fan at heart, because he has quoted this song several times.
At his announcement that he was running for President:

And at a Republican Leadership conference:

He decided to say that time, that they were the lyrics of the 2000 Sydney Olympics' closing ceremony song. (They were not, naturally.)
But hey, at least he got a reference in the Wiki page.
The song is often quoted by 2012 Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain, most notably at the August 11 Republican debate
What is the lesson here? There isn't one, really, except Herman Cain is a clown amongst clowns, and the fact that he is quoting Pokemon songs as great poetry just about sums up today's Republican party, in rather funny terms.
