I have, for some time, been referring to GOP Presidential candidate (and now Vice-Presidential candidate) Tim Pawlenty as "Fredo," after Fredo Corleone. But it was not until today that I suddenly realized that, with the entry of Rick Perrry into the race, many of the nominees map quite well onto the five children (including foster child Tom Hagen) of The Godfather's Vito Corleone.
I present a brief photo essay on the theme below.
Out of the race to gain control goes Fredo, who was too weak.
Into the race comes Michael, who they kept dragging back in.
Connie watches, stews and schemes.
Tom Hagen wishes that he were not disqualified from leadership due to his unusual background.
And Sonny, who was a bad man and died well before the rest, has already been processed into the most humiliating possible reincarnation.
