Rick "I Make Peach Jam" Santorum thinks Americans need to realize how blessed they are to pay the world's highest prices for prescription drugs (the horror starts at 1:23):
So, thanks Rick! To review:
"...woman here in Iowa came up to me and complained that she had to pay $200/month for prescriptions."
"in other words, this $200/month keeps you alive. She goes, 'yes.' And your complaining that you're paying $200/month and it keeps you alive?!"
"What's your cable bill? I mean, you know, what's your cell phone bill? Because she had a cell phone."
"And, and -- how can you complain you have $200/month to keep you alive, and that's a problem?! No that's a blessing!"
"And, and, but it's the idea that we have that's been permeated through this country that health care is something you don't pay for."
To repeat, OMFG!
Wow, first of all, Rick, nobody in this country thinks health care is free. If, indeed, people did know that citiziens of other countries have health care free at the point of use -- like in the UK and Canada -- they would run with pitch forks to the assholes at Aetna and CIGNA that bankrupt them each and every time they visit a doctor.
And, second, Rick, who says this woman is only paying -- as Cenk lays out -- $200/month for drugs? Could she also be paying $10,000 in medical bills before Aetna (or CIGNA or "insert bloodsuckers here") decides to help with the bills? Could she also be paying $300/month for another drug, too?
Lastly, Rick, if paying $200/month for drugs is such a "blessing" -- will you please pay America back for any bills that your un-Godly, "Cadillac-quality," government-subsidized health care plan paid for during your years in the Senate?
Can someone please turn this asshole's comments into a video supporting Medicare for All?
