Sometimes, things are just so absurd , you can't help but laugh... Not much of a diary, but again, sometimes, there just aren't words...
Apparently, a tea partier very "concerned" about "civility" heckled the President of the US at a town hall...
According to the AP , Ryan Rhodes , leader of a Iowa Tea Party group, kept interrupting Obama at an Open Town Hall Meeting yesterday.
"Rhodes shouted out that the president's calls for more civility in politics had little chance of coming to pass after "your vice president is calling people like me, a Tea Party member, a 'terrorist.'"
His question referred to media reports that Vice President Joe Biden made such a remark in a private meeting with House of Representatives Democrats at the height of a debt showdown earlier this month."
Yeah, how dare he calls out a tiny fringe of people who practically grounded the whole country to a half during a fabricated crisis " the DEBT CEILIIIINGGGG" , because they couldn't get enough of tax cuts for their very wealthy friends?
But be careful which words you use, eh Democrats !!
Except, they should probably let Mitch McConnell know:
"I think some of our members may have thought the default issue was a hostage you might take a chance at shooting [.....] What we did learn is this — it's a hostage that's worth ransoming."
Emphasis mine.
You know who else are hostage takers? .Terro..oh never mind.
Anywho back to our story,
The clash came as Obama was intent on wrapping up the meeting in the shadow of a red country barn draped with an American flag, as the sun set on a rural corner of Iowa.
"I know it's not going to work, if you stand up, and I asked everybody to raise their hand... I didn't see you, I wasn't avoiding you," the president said, but later circled back to answer Rhodes's question.
Ok, Ok. Mr. Rhodes, I'll give it to ya, it's a perfectly reasonable request. Seriously, Let's be civil.
And the President agreed :
"I absolutely agree that everybody needs to try to tone down the rhetoric," he said
Yes, absolutely.
In FACT , Mr. Tea Partier.. hold on, let me let our sometimes wise President point it out to you:
"In fairness, since I have been called a socialist who wasn't born in this country, who is destroying America and taking away its freedoms because I passed a health care bill, I am all for lowering the rhetoric." Emphasis Mine.
Like.... That's a lot of uncivility, non?
Obama and Rhodes later engaged in an animated conversation as he greeted supporters on a rope line after the event,..
Alright, Mr. Rhodes. You both agree. The rethoric needs to be toned down, people calling each other's names has no place in our political discourse and in all honesty, prevents essential and honest discussion in how to move our country forward at these very perilous times.
Ok Right? Done. Glad we had this talk.
Oh wait,
..the activist later told reporters that he believed that Obama was indeed a socialist.
Oh, FYUK Me.
