We've tuned out. I've long stopped arguing that issues that get 60%, 70% or even 80% approvals should be slam dunks. Dont bother telling us its the Republicans fault, and how its not worth it to bring good ideas up that aren't going to pass the House, because we're tired of not being able to have those conversations. Thats right, we cant talk about Single Payer, the Public Option, or an economic plan that just might save the world from Depression.
We've tuned out to the rational, the excuses.....
Dont tell me that Barack Obama has listened to us, We'll decide when we get thrown a bone, you DO NOT have the right to tell people for themselves, that notion is totally absurd. They will make their own minds up, thank you very much.
This country is on a glide path to a double dip in the economy. Our economy is living on the edge, one little push when one is least expecting it, abrogating the possibility of the opportunity for a timely fix, well with France and Italy, it could get ugly.
Our ideas are better, our ideas will work. The time for excuses are over, we must save our economy. One lesson to be learned from the Recession of 1937-1938 is that the 3 years of stimulus was not enough, even though GNP in 1934 was 11%, 1935 9%, 1936 14%... it was not enough.
In this economic downturn 20% of the workforce is idle, at the peak of the Depression, 25%. In recent years the down turn in the economy went from 14,4 trillion to 13.8 trillion, about 4.2%, vs the 20% drop in GNP from 1930 to 1936. Plain as day, you can see that today unemployment is the more serious of the 2 metrics.
I dont care what John Boehner will allow, this conversation needs to happen, Now. We've listened to excuses for 31 months, its time to get onboard the conversation about realistic job creation, spending 10% of GDP a year, each year, for 5 years.
Quit your whining, the cheerleading, posting of lists of accomplishments. Its about the freakin conversation on how to create 15-20 million jobs ASAP.
So go ahead and roll the dice, see if the double dip happens in the summer of 2012, see if the world economy slips down the slope to Depression. We've already seen the front half of the double dip over the last 18 months, 6 fiscal quarters:
Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Barack Obama.........
Yo, we need to talk about job creation, dont bother making excuses about the lack of job creation. Dont blame the Republicans for no legislation being passed. Lets talk about job stimulus, 10% of GDP each year over 5 years. I dont care if Boehner blocks a large scale jobs bill, he just killed 15 million jobs, we'll run on that, if it gets voted down in the House, the GOP just killed 15 million jobs, we'll run on that. If it passes the house and Senate, and gets signed by Obama, we'll be heroes, and we'll run on that.
Its time for real fun. Go ahead - roll the dice on a Depression.
