There are widely varying perspectives on what is happening in Libya. So far, my exploration of people on the left reveals a wide spread of opinion in response to the question in the title of this diary.
Opposing:
Some accuse the mainstream media of falsely depicting what's happening there and slandering Gadaffi. Others argue that NATO's powers are being abused by the USA and Europe.
Others claim that the "war" or attack is being used to secure a military bastion for the US, and preferred access to oil reserves by corporations. The US and NATO and the CIA are imposing imperialism upon Libya and killing many civilians.
Supporting:
Gadaffi is accused of being a dictator, a tyrant, a terrorist. The rebels are characterized as people seeking democracy, freedom and self rule. The US and NATO are assisting the rebels is their fight for freedom.
Some people say that the rebellion is a good thing but that the US, NATO and the CIA should be keeping out of the struggle. The core question of this poll is about the rebellion. Do you support the rebellion or oppose it?
Please vote and then add your comments including whether you think the poll is reasonable.
What's your opinion, including whether the poll question and options are fair?
I ran this poll on my blog, opednews.com, and there, where the readers tend to be to the left of dailykos, the poll showed 22% undecided and more feeling the rebellion is bad than good.
