Public Policy Polling is planning to roll out a new poll of the Republican primary tomorrow--but offered up an interesting tease in its rollout of the head-to-head matchups. Apparently Rick Perry is now the favorite to be the Republican nominee.
Rick Perry is looking increasingly like the Republican favorite for President- he led in the Iowa poll we released this morning and he leads by double digits in the national poll we'll release tomorrow. The biggest beneficiary of Perry's rise? It might be Barack Obama.
Given PPP's recent track record, it's safe to say that if Tom Jensen and Dean Debnam say that Perry is the Republican frontrunner, then Perry is the Republican frontrunner. And that can only be good news for us. Even with Obama's approval numbers tailing off like they are, the only Repub who has a realistic chance of beating him--Mitt Romney--appears to be circling the drain. It'll be interesting to see just how big the spread is between Perry and Romney when the numbers come out tomorrow.
