I haven't seen any mention of this story but my sister-in-law lives near Lincoln, CA and a developing story is hitting the wires
Firefighters to drain propane from burning rail car in Calif. as thousands remain evacuated
The train car on fire is near a storage facility for propane with something like a million gallons of propane
Fire officials initially said the blaze could continue for 21 days, but on Whitt said Wednesday that scenario was unacceptable. Nearly 5,000 homes in the city of 40,000 are evacuated, and students in the area are missing their first days of school.
[snip]
The danger officials are trying to head off would be a catastrophic failure of the 29,000-gallon tank caused by a buildup of heat, which would lead to an explosion and massive fireball several hundred yards wide.
So the next time you hear the commercials for "Safe, clean energy" tell them to take it to Lincoln, CA.
And more to the story...
As I just stated in the comments there is more to this story than the fact it is just happening. What I didn't initially include was the location of that school being evacuated.
The school is across the street from the storage depot. Across. The. Street.
This is what happens when industry and business are allowed to "regulate themselves" and when there aren't zoning rules in place that ensure homes aren't built on toxic waste sites or schools next to chemical plants. This is the "Somalian Paradise" that's already making its way into America thanks to Republicans and their quest to destroy government.
