"The Fox viewership knows almost nothing about what is going on in the world. According to recent polls, Fox News viewers are 12 points more likely to think the stimulus package caused job LOSSES, 17 percent more likely to believe Muslims want to establish Sharia law in America, 30 points more likely to believe scientists dispute global warming, and 40 percent more likely to doubt the President's citizenship. At the height of the health-care debate more than two-thirds of Fox News viewers were convinced 'Obamacare' would lead to a government takeover, provide health care to illegal immigrants, pay for abortions, and let the government decide when to pull the plug on Grandma. A study by the University of Maryland proves Fox News viewer ignorance actually increases the longer they view the network."

"Are We Getting Even Stupider?"
Yes.
Here are some results from real surveys of Americans:
50% don’t vote.
The vast majority cannot name any branch of government,
Cannot define liberal or conservative,
Don’t know what the “Bill Of Rights” is.
Two-thirds don’t know what “Roe v. Wade” is....
Or what the FDA does. (Nothing—that’s a trick question)
50% don’t know states have two Senators, and most can’t name their Congressperson or their Senators unless they fuck around or send them a shirtless picture.
Most Americans think we give 24% of our money to foreign aid. It’s less than 1%. Fuck those foreigners.
25% don’t know who we fought in the Revolutionary War in 1776. The South?
50% don’t know that Judaism is older than Christianity. Christ was a Jew--Hellloooo?
53% believe humans “did not evolve”. Okay, I’ll give them that one.
Before Iraq, 70% thought or think Saddam was behind 9/11. Now it’s “only” 34%.
58% don't know what the Taliban is.
50% think we found WMD’s in Iraq. Does a donkey with a dynamite stick up his ass count?
From The April Newsweek Cover Story: "ARE WE GETTING MORE IGNORANT?"
6% of those surveyed could not circle Independence Day on a calendar
73% did not know why we fought the Civil War.
10% could not name the ocean on the west coast of the United States.
89% could not name one power of the Federal government.
100% could not name one power of the Democratic Party.
High school and college kids were surveyed:
One young woman was asked what "Watergate" was and she said "I don't care--I wasn't even born yet!"
A young man was asked who won the Civil War and he said "We did?"
More than half could not find South Africa on a map. Hey--you go to Africa, you go south.
They couldn’t find South America--the directions are IN THE NAME.
80% of those students could not find Iraq on a map. But I bet most of them can find it NOW...
February 2011
18% of Americans think the Sun revolves around the Earth.
90% of Americans think it revolves around the United States.
51% of Republican primary voters (the caucus people that pick our Presidents) think our President is a Muslim.
79% of Weekly World News readers think our President is an alien.
50% of Fox News viewers think the President is a Kenyan foreign agent Muslim Socialist Communist.
20% are "not sure".
March 2011
American students tested 34th in the world on math, to which a high school senior said "At least we're in the top ten!"
The Newsweek survey revealed that about a third of Americans cannot name the Vice-President.
Over a third of Americans could not pass the United States Citizenship Test.
Four out of ten did not know what the Cold War was about.
One-third did not know we fought in World War II.
Two-thirds of people could not name the economic system of the United States. (Another trick question?)
Republican primary voters:
46% think Obama is a Muslim.
28% think he was born in America.
51% think Obama was not born in America.
63% did not know a Black man could BE President.
Which one did I make up?
April 2011
Four out of five Republicans now say they do not know where the President was born. Many are still willing to admit it was on Earth.
May 2011:
An unknown percentage of Americans think Osama bin Laden was already dead and the whole thing was faked by the people who did the so-called "Moon Landing".
July 2011
A July 4th poll of Americans asked "What country did we gain independence from?"
76% said Britain.
20% were "unsure".
6% said other countries.
They were asked "Did we gain our independence in 1776?"
58% said yes.
The rest said they did not know.
FROM "THINK: STRAIGHT TALK FOR WOMEN TO STAY SMART IN A DUMBED-DOWN WORLD" BY LISA BLOOM:
25% of American women would rather win 'America's Next Top Model' than the Nobel Peace Prize, which means they're so stupid they don't know the Nobel comes with millions of dollars.
Young women can name more Kardashians than WARS WE ARE IN. An overwhelming number of women. Most women of college age cannot name any wars we are in. They can't tell you the name of our Vice-President, our Secretary of State, or any of the issues before Congress.
20 times the women read a tabloid as read a real newspaper.
She has found women who do not know how many sides there are on a triangle or what country Mexico City is in.
People were asked: "Which of these is in the U.S. Constitution"?
1. "Of the people, by the people, for the people".
Big % said it was in the Constitution.
Wrong. Lincoln.
2. "From each according to his ability, to each according to his need."
Big percentage said yes.
Wrong. Karl Marx.
3. "Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness."
Majority wrong. It's in the Bill of Rights.
There were two others they were wrong about, but I can't remember them and I can't find the original article.
I rest my case.
